Chapter 125: Fu Ziqing’s Temptation?
It was past ten in the evening when Chu Fei finally caught his first glimpse of Fu Ziqing. This alone spoke volumes about how busy his fiancée truly was.
She was dressed in a crisp, dark cyan professional suit, paired with flesh-toned stockings and high heels. It was a simple ensemble, yet Fu Ziqing carried it with a poise that could topple kingdoms. Her hair, swept up into a bun, revealed a slender, porcelain-white neck reminiscent of a swan. This hairstyle—simple, if not meticulously elaborate—was something few women could pull off, but on Fu Ziqing, it was the perfect finishing touch, radiating an aura of noble elegance.
A beauty is a beauty; no matter what she wears or how she styles her hair, she is breathtaking. Although her outfit was casual by her standards, it still possessed a visual impact that felt expertly crafted. This was the sheer intimidation of a super-beauty.
This was not Chu Fei’s first time meeting her, yet he was still stunned by her ethereal beauty and formidable presence. Of course, with the typical vanity of a man, the thought that this woman was his fiancée gave him a sense of pride—though that pride was quickly tempered by pressure. There was no helping it; Fu Ziqing was too perfect. Beyond her appearance and aura, there was her terrifyingly high intellect and commercial acumen. Any man standing before her would feel immense pressure, often not even daring to look her in the eye.
"I’m sorry. I had to work overtime on an investment proposal, and then I stopped back home afterward," the woman who was always a high-and-mighty goddess to the outside world said, her first words upon entering the living room being an apology to Chu Fei. Her eyes were filled with genuine regret. She truly felt guilty; she was the one who had asked him to come to Donghai early, only to leave him waiting until this late hour. To be honest, beyond the guilt, there was a faint hint of nervousness. She was anxious that Chu Fei might be dissatisfied or angry. She cared about this man to whom she was betrothed, not just because of the contract, but because of the strange illness she had suffered as a child—if not for him, she would have been dead long ago.
"It’s fine, I know you’re busy," Chu Fei said with a smile. Fu Ziqing was so beautiful that any man would surely be willing to wait without complaint; Chu Fei was, after all, a worldly man himself.
"I’m sorry." Fu Ziqing apologized again, though a faint smile of relief touched her lovely face. She rarely smiled—in fact, she never did in public—but she didn't feel the need to hide it in front of Chu Fei.
Chu Fei’s gaze faltered, and he muttered to himself, *Trying to seduce me, are you?*
"Oh? Where is Sister Xiao Jing?" Fu Ziqing, unaware that her small smile had sent Chu Fei’s mind wandering, turned to look around. She was surprised, as she had specifically entrusted Xiao Jing with looking after him.
"That woman is on her period." Mentioning Xiao Jing made Chu Fei’s blood boil. It was one thing to abandon him on the overpass, but when he finally managed to get off and take a taxi to this residential complex called Star Garden, he saw Xiao Jing waiting at the gate. She had clearly been waiting for him, but when he stepped out of the taxi and approached with the magnanimous intention of resolving their misunderstanding, she simply started the car and zoomed into the compound, once again blowing a face full of exhaust fumes at him.
Was this woman ever going to let it go?
Frustrated, Chu Fei followed her into the compound, only to see her step out of the car and enter a two-story villa. Chu Fei followed her inside, and then... nothing.
Once inside, Xiao Jing completely ignored him. She didn't host him or acknowledge him, simply busy with her own affairs. She spent some time reading a magazine in the living room before retreating to the study to work on her computer. She remained busy like that for the entire afternoon.
Chu Fei had spent the afternoon bored to tears, even taking a nap on the sofa. If he hadn't been waiting for Fu Ziqing, he would have left. It was too dull and stifling. He had even tried to strike up a conversation with her, lowering his pride, but she hadn't responded at all.
As the sun set and darkness fell, Chu Fei thought that surely, at dinnertime, she couldn't keep ignoring him, could she?
He was wrong. Terribly wrong.
Xiao Jing still didn't pay him any mind, let alone offer him dinner. Around six o'clock, apparently hungry herself, she came out of the study, grabbed a bag of potato chips from the fridge, and went back to work.
*Damn!* Chu Fei was truly speechless. Since the study door was open, he could not only see her profile but also clearly hear the *crunch-crunch* of her eating those chips. *Good grief, a grown woman eating potato chips for dinner?* he thought, feeling miserable. He realized Xiao Jing had no intention of acknowledging him; she was even replacing her dinner with chips.
*Women are so petty.*
With a long sigh, Chu Fei walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Two minutes later, he walked out with a box of potato chips of his own, munching away. There was no choice; while there were some ingredients, he was too lazy to cook, and aside from a few sealed items, there was nothing but boxes of potato chips—not even a slice of bread. Left with no option, he chewed on chips to stave off his hunger, waiting for Fu Ziqing. That wait lasted for hours, until she finally returned in the dead of night.
Fu Ziqing, unaware of his "desolate" afternoon and evening, looked startled at his words. *On her period?* Even if she were, would Xiao Jing tell Chu Fei that?
As she wondered, she heard the door open. Chu Fei heard it too, and he felt two sharp, blade-like gazes lock onto him. He turned to see Xiao Jing standing at the study door, her eyes cold. If looks could kill, Chu Fei would have been an ice sculpture by now.
Fu Ziqing sensed the tension and looked at them both, confused. Just as she was about to ask what was wrong, Chu Fei asked, "Qingqing, have you had dinner yet?"
"Ah?" Fu Ziqing froze, staring at Chu Fei in a daze, her mind blank. *Qingqing?* It was the first time in her life she had heard such an intimate nickname. Even her parents and grandfather never called her that; at most, they called her Ziqing. If there hadn't been anyone else around, she wouldn't have even realized he was talking to her.
"I... this..." Faced with his question, Fu Ziqing struggled to form a coherent sentence. If it had just been the two of them, she might have been shocked, but her strong composure would have held. But with Xiao Jing right there, being addressed so intimately gave her a strange, indescribable feeling.
"Did you eat or not? I haven't had dinner yet," Chu Fei pressed, secretly smiling. He had deliberately provoked Fu Ziqing and the watching Xiao Jing. He hadn't expected the effect to be so good; her stunned, bewildered expression was truly spectacular. He doubted anyone else in the world had ever seen Fu Ziqing look like that.
Chu Fei felt a thrill of mischief. To be honest, every time he saw Fu Ziqing’s arrogant, cold aura, he felt a sense of suppression. Seeing her lose her composure because of his words, unable to lash out, gave him a sense of accomplishment. He also felt that she looked much more feminine this way.
"You haven't had dinner?" Fu Ziqing was, after all, Fu Ziqing. Though the overly intimate nickname had given her goosebumps, she quickly regained her composure, glancing at Chu Fei with surprise before looking toward Xiao Jing at the study door.
Now, she felt that something was definitely wrong. She had asked Xiao Jing to host Chu Fei, so why hadn't he eaten even in the middle of the night? What was going on? How had Xiao Jing been "hosting" him? Had she just brought him to the villa and left him to his own devices?
"I wanted to eat, but nobody made anything for me. I’m not familiar with this place, and I didn't dare go out—what if I got lost?" Chu Fei shrugged, sounding very aggrieved.
Fu Ziqing’s brows knitted together. She could understand the first part, but what kind of nonsense was the second? *Get lost? Can a grown man get lost?* Especially with the aggrieved expression he was making—didn't he feel ashamed making such a face?
Though she was annoyed and knew he was doing it on purpose, Fu Ziqing didn't say anything. Instead, she looked at Xiao Jing and then at Chu Fei. "Alright, I'll take you out to eat."
"Great!" Chu Fei beamed.
Fu Ziqing let out a bitter laugh. *How did I end up in this situation?* But she didn't overthink it, turning around and saying, "Let’s go!"
"You’re going out like that?" Chu Fei didn't move, looking at her in surprise.
"What’s wrong with this?" Fu Ziqing turned back, checking herself over. She looked perfectly normal.
"What if you scare people by going out like that?" Chu Fei said, speechless. With her powerful, queen-like aura in that professional suit, it wasn't just others who couldn't handle it—he felt unnatural just looking at her. It was simply too intense. How were they supposed to eat?
"Scare people?" Fu Ziqing was stunned. She clearly didn't understand what he meant. Was she really that scary?
"Don't you have any casual clothes? A tracksuit or something would be fine. How can you eat wearing something so formal?" Chu Fei was direct, feeling helpless. Did she not realize how powerful her own aura was?
Fu Ziqing finally understood. She thought to herself that she always dressed like this, so why couldn't she eat? But in the face of his comment, she found it hard to explain.
"Hurry up and change. I'm starving," Chu Fei urged.
"Fine!" Fu Ziqing nodded helplessly and turned to Xiao Jing, who was still watching coldly from the door. "Sister Xiao Jing, could I borrow your tracksuit?"
Now it was Chu Fei’s turn to freeze. He stared in disbelief. Fu Ziqing actually had to borrow clothes? Did she not own a single tracksuit?
He wasn't the only one. Xiao Jing, who had been watching the drama unfold, stared at Fu Ziqing in shock. Fu Ziqing, who only ever wore professional attire, was asking to borrow a tracksuit because of one sentence from Chu Fei?
