Chapter 084: The Relocation of Feilu [Transition]
Chapter 084: Relocation
Ximen Lu was a woman who valued efficiency, and Bai Yanchu wasn’t slow in handling matters either. In fact, she hadn’t even considered this a real task, especially since it was Chu Fei’s instruction. Just after one o’clock in the afternoon, she had already sent a lawyer with the contract to Feilu.
This was a great relief for Ximen Lu, who had been tense ever since returning to the office. Fearing any unexpected mishaps, she specifically asked Chu Fei to accompany her while reviewing the contract. Once that was done, she launched a fierce barrage of questions at the lawyer, punctuated with a few enchanting glances that made Chu Fei roll his eyes on the side. In truth, Ximen Lu didn’t need to do any of this. The lawyer had already received strict instructions from the big boss before arriving: whatever Feilu requested, they were to agree, feigning difficulty only if the demand was excessive but ultimately consenting in the end. Lawyers were shrewd people and quickly caught on to the boss’s subtle hint—Feilu was no ordinary client, and his presence was merely procedural.
Thus, with Ximen Lu’s relentless bargaining, the young lawyer, after much apparent hesitation, agreed to an additional twelve percent discount on several items atop the already steep hundred-thousand fee. Perhaps dazed by Ximen Lu’s persuasive tactics, he even signed a twenty-year lease on the spot.
In other words, Feilu would have rights to this entire floor for the next twenty years, with priority even in special circumstances.
Once the contract was signed, Ximen Lu was elated, while the lawyer was so unnerved he was sweating profusely, eager to make his escape. He only breathed a sigh of relief after he was far away, wiping his brow—not from heat, but from the stress of Ximen Lu’s onslaught. He didn’t dare entertain any improper thoughts, tormented as he was, but at least the task was completed, and he could now report back to the boss. Still, the memory of Ximen Lu’s seductive smile brought a wry grin to his face. He had worried she might pounce on him—what would he have done then? Run for his life or simply submit?
He considered himself a man of principle.
Thankfully, that scenario never happened…
—
“Watching you just now, the way you acted so coy—I thought you’d throw yourself at him,” Chu Fei scoffed at Ximen Lu’s beaming, flower-like smile in the office. Even he, as a bystander, could barely watch her flirtatious performance—no wonder the lawyer was flustered.
“What do you know?” Ximen Lu retorted, her smile still dazzling and alluring, like a seductive fox. “Just a few extra smiles got us a twelve percent discount. Feilu is at a crucial stage—every penny counts, you know? We can do a lot with that money.”
“Fine, you always have a point,” Chu Fei shrugged, conceding her logic, though he still thought she was a bit much.
“Hmph!”
Ximen Lu let out a proud snort, obviously pleased. “Now that the contract’s signed, we’re relocating the company this afternoon.”
“So soon?” Chu Fei was startled.
“What do you mean ‘soon’? We were cramped here because we had no choice—now that we have a luxury office, of course we move in right away.” Ximen Lu spoke as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
“You’re right, as always…” Chu Fei had to admit defeat once more.
—
Next, Ximen Lu immediately called in several team leaders, including Chu Fei. With the floor plan laid out, they quickly finalized the new office layout and assignments. At her command, Feilu began its relocation.
Apart from Chu Fei, no one else—including Ximen Lu’s secretary, Xiao Ai—knew that the entire floor belonged to Feilu. Chu Fei privately approved of Ximen Lu’s discretion; she wasn’t one to boast, not even letting the staff in on the full story.
The chosen floor was divided into twelve large, independent work areas of varying sizes and layouts. Ximen Lu had already made her plans: she reserved the largest and best-situated area for the new marketing department, with a slightly smaller adjacent area for the design department.
Though it was only two sections, the new space was nearly ten times larger than their previous office. Ximen Lu was shrewd; the floor she chose was not just the most recently renovated but also the most spacious. When Chu Fei first introduced it, he hadn’t expected her to choose it—he thought it was too big—but clearly, she was bold and decisive, seizing the best for herself.
With the boss’s proud command, Feilu’s entire staff sprang into action, their excitement palpable. Each team now had more than enough space—not only did every team leader have a private office, but every staff member had their own cubicle. Each department had its own area, visitor lounge, and small meeting room—no more fighting over conference spaces.
Such a spacious, premium work environment was almost unheard of in rapidly developing, high-priced Kun City.
The move went smoothly. The new office was just in the building next door, and within two hours, the process was nearly complete, except for a few large pieces of equipment in the design department that needed special delivery.
Watching the busy, cheerful women bustling about the vast, modern workspace, Chu Fei clicked his tongue. Who says women are delicate and weak? He’d smack anyone who said that—just look at these energetic women. Had he not known them so well, he might have mistaken them for a team of rural cleaning ladies newly arrived in the city. In fact, there was indeed a group of cleaning staff helping out…
Ximen Lu, though a woman, was not one for trivialities. After moving in, she saw no need to buy new office equipment—the existing furnishings were all brand new and perfectly usable. In her words, Feilu’s money should be spent where it matters, not wasted on such details.
No one in Feilu objected. The office equipment was newer than what they’d had before. Other than personal computers and essentials, everything—desks, chairs, sofas—was practically unused. Moving into such a bright, spacious environment put everyone in a great mood; they hardly cared about minor details. Some girls brought their own decorations from the old office, but that was all.
Of course, a thorough cleaning was necessary. Here, Ximen Lu was generous, hiring over fifty cleaning staff from two different agencies for a deep, comprehensive clean—nearly one cleaner per employee. Every corner was scrubbed until the wooden floors gleamed.
“Chu Fei, you really are lazy. Aren’t you going to clean up a bit yourself?”
Chu Fei had just entered his new private office, pulled out a cigarette, and hadn’t even lit it when a girl’s voice sounded behind him. Two delicate young women entered: first, his lovely colleague Murong Wei, and then the lively Xiaoyu, each with a cloth in hand. Especially Murong Wei, with a silk scarf tied over her hair, looked every bit the cleaning lady—albeit a strikingly beautiful one.
“They already cleaned up. Looks spotless to me,” Chu Fei said with a smile. Just now, two cleaning ladies had thoroughly cleaned the office—the glass sparkled, and the furniture and floors gleamed. Ximen Lu had made it clear: the cleaner, the higher the pay, so the workers competed to do the best job. There wasn’t a speck of dust even in the corners.
“Knew you’d say that,” Murong Wei scoffed, sashaying into the washroom. Chu Fei’s office was spacious—some eighty to ninety square meters, with its own lounge, washroom, and even a discreet little door in the corner. Chu Fei had just checked—it led to a private twenty-square-meter rest area, complete with a small bathroom and shower.
A small space, but fully equipped.
Only compared to Ximen Lu’s intimidatingly large new office did Chu Fei’s seem modest; as a team leader, his space was already a major upgrade from Ximen Lu’s previous office.
“Heehee, Weiwei said you’re too lazy to clean, so she dragged me along to help—she says those workers aren’t thorough enough…” Xiaoyu giggled at Chu Fei, hurrying into the washroom. Soon, both girls emerged with fresh towels and began meticulously wiping down his desk, which was already spotless, but they worked with utmost seriousness.
“That’s enough, really,” Chu Fei said, amused by their earnestness. He honestly didn’t care—according to Bai Yanchu, the floor had never really been used. It was originally prepared for a new Shenghe Real Estate branch, but plans fell through and the company changed hands before opening.
“That won’t do. Who knows if the last person who sat here was sick?” Murong Wei insisted, scrubbing every inch of the office chair, then kneeling down to clean under the desk with great detail.
Chu Fei was speechless, especially since Murong Wei, with her back to him, was bent over, her shapely figure swaying with every movement.
Feeling his pulse quicken, Chu Fei quickly looked away.
And so, under Murong Wei’s nearly obsessive demands, the two girls gave his new office yet another thorough cleaning—not just the desk and chairs, but the lounge area, the bookcase, the filing cabinets, even the floor. At last, they exchanged high-fives and ran out, giggling.
“Whew—” Standing in his empty, pristine new office, Chu Fei finally let out a long breath. Heaven knew how tormented he’d just been, staring at Murong Wei’s alluring curves.
Shameless, he scolded himself!
[Today I plan to catch up on extra chapters. I’m pushing myself because I’ll be heading to Shandong on the 12th and will be away a few days. I want to make up for missed updates now so I don’t fall further behind. Haha, just kidding. I’ll try to stockpile drafts. Even in Shandong, I’ll carve out time to write. Haha.]
