Chapter 131: The Mysterious Holy Lord
Yun Xuan arrived on the first floor and saw Lin Ximeng drinking coffee.
"Hey, Yun Xuan, I'm here to hang out." Lin Ximeng smiled and greeted him upon seeing him.
"It's fine that you're here to hang out, but General Lin is probably about to explode with rage," Yun Xuan said with a wry smile.
"Didn't Grandpa see the secret code I left?" Lin Ximeng asked, looking puzzled.
"What secret code?" Yun Xuan rolled his eyes. Did she think everyone was Detective Conan, capable of deciphering codes?
"I placed my phone on a map of China, right over Fangyu City, and the first contact in my phone was you. See? Such a simple code should have been easy to figure out, right?" Lin Ximeng said, looking proud of herself.
"..." Yun Xuan’s mouth twitched. It would be a miracle if anyone could actually figure that out.
"Anyway, call your grandfather first so he doesn't worry, and then I'll arrange for you to eat and drink." Yun Xuan handed his phone to Lin Ximeng.
"Alright." Lin Ximeng obediently made the call. Elder Lin was nearly apoplectic, bluntly stating that if she left such a "secret code" again, he would throw her into the dungeon.
Lin Ximeng hung her head, pretending to be a well-behaved child.
After the reprimand, Elder Lin offered some earnest advice before finally entrusting Yun Xuan to look after her and hanging up.
"Grandpa is so scary. It's just leaving the house; nothing is going to happen. I'm very strong, after all; ordinary people are no match for me," Lin Ximeng muttered.
"He's just worried about you. You really are oblivious," Yun Xuan said, giving her a sidelong glance.
"Let's not talk about that. Where are we going to eat? Where are we going to play?" Lin Ximeng asked, staring intently at Yun Xuan.
"How about the Xuanxue Restaurant?" Yun Xuan rubbed his forehead. This young miss truly seemed to be the type who feared nothing.
He took Lin Ximeng to the Xuanxue Restaurant. Once inside, she looked at the menu and ordered one of everything. Yun Xuan, naturally, did not mistreat her; they sat in a private dining room and began to eat.
After the meal, Lin Ximeng dragged Yun Xuan to the Fangyu City Library, where she found many things that piqued her interest.
At seven o'clock that evening, people from the Lin family arrived. Ten soldiers came and escorted Lin Ximeng back by helicopter that very night.
Lin Ximeng looked aggrieved as she was led away by the soldiers. With two female soldiers holding her arms, she had no room to resist—or rather, she dared not.
Yun Xuan watched her leave and was about to head home when he received a call from Shiro.
"We found them, but... we missed our chance. There was one very strong person who spotted our team, and now they’ve vanished without a trace. However, we managed to capture their images," Shiro said in a low voice.
"Send me what you captured," Yun Xuan said after a moment of hesitation.
"Understood." Shiro didn't waste any words, hung up, and sent a video clip to Yun Xuan’s email.
"There's more than one person. Who are the others?" Yun Xuan put his phone away, deciding to wait until he got home to watch it.
...
Europe, an underground ancient castle.
In a quiet conference room, people capable of shaking the entire continent sat on either side of the table. At the head of the table sat a young man from China.
Behind the young man hung a painting of a little girl with black hair and a pair of horns on her head.
"Where is Alice? The ritual is about to begin, and you tell me the sacrifice has disappeared?" the young man said coldly.
"Please calm your anger, Holy Master. We are searching with all our might in Japan, but we haven't found a single trace of her," a middle-aged white man said, head bowed.
"Useless, a bunch of useless trash!" The young man snorted.
The others in the room kept their heads down, not daring to draw a deep breath.
"Holy Master, the information you requested," a man in black entered and said respectfully.
The young man took the documents and looked at the person in the photo: it was Yun Xuan.
"Interesting. Send Istia in," the young man said with a slight smile.
"Yes." The man in black walked out.
"The person has been found; he is with my target. I am giving you one month to bring Alice back. If she is not here in a month, one of you will be sacrificed to the Demon King," the young man said calmly.
"Yes," the others replied in unison.
"Get out." With a wave of his hand, everyone filed out of the room.
"My Lord, your temper is still so fiery. Would you like me to serve you?" a seductive voice echoed.
"Istia, do not use your charms on me, or I will ensure you can never speak again," the young man said, looking toward the door.
A woman stood there wearing a swimsuit, her figure alluring and perfect—a quintessential mature beauty.
"Yes, my Lord." Istia wiped the smile from her face.
"You have lived here for three years and understand the modern world well. I intend to send you to monitor someone." The young man pushed Yun Xuan’s file across the table.
"This is?" Istia looked at the documents and photos.
"This is my target. Just monitor him; there is no need to take action. Now is not the time to kill him." The young man gazed at the photo of Yun Xuan, a strange light flashing in his eyes.
"Yes, my Lord." Istia took the documents and exited the room.
...
"The Chosen One, is it? Our battle has only just begun," the young man murmured.
...
Xuanxun House, sixth floor.
"Shiro, Mikasa, Akame, Misaka Sisters?" Yun Xuan looked at the figures appearing in the video, finding it hard to believe.
Were they all summoned from anime? If someone incredibly powerful were summoned, it would be a catastrophe.
Losing track of Shiro, Yun Xuan had no way to find them. No matter how skilled a hacker was, they needed information; since he had no contact details for Shiro, how could he investigate?
Shaking his head, Yun Xuan told Shiro to continue investigating; as long as they appeared again, he could lock onto their location for a short time.
He walked out of the room, headed to the first floor, and began drinking coffee and eating cake.
...
Japan, Hokkaido.
"What? You were spotted? How is that possible?" Asuna III asked, astonished.
"Someone recognized me in this world," Shiro said seriously.
"But... you came from another world," Asuna III said, stunned.
"It is possible that someone else came from the same place as me. Since I could come to this world, others could too," Shiro reasoned.
"Then what should we do now?" Asuna III asked, and the others looked at Shiro.
"We go to this place." Shiro produced an invitation letter.
"What is this?" Asuna III opened it, her eyes widening.
"It is an admission letter from a Chinese institution. I want to go to China to hide. The China of this world is very powerful; it won't be easy for battles to break out there," Shiro explained.
"Alright, then let's go there. But what about the summoning circle?" Asuna III asked, feeling a bit regretful after all the time she had spent drawing it.
"Did you not know you could carve it into a wooden board?" Shiro took out a small piece of wood with the summoning circle carved into it.
"I see! Akame, please clear the summoning circle here," Asuna III said, delighted to learn of such a method.
Shiro turned away and tucked the invitation letter into her pocket. A name was written on it: Qin Yun.
