Chapter 110: The Celestial Amidst the Clouds and Yun Xun'er
Island nation, Senkyō Shrine.
A middle-aged man slammed his fist onto the table.
“Where is Hanazuki Igarashi?” the man demanded coldly.
“I don’t know, sir,” the elderly butler replied, bowing his head, battered but still gritting his teeth.
“My lord, she’s been found. The priestess appeared at Fanyu City Airport; I’ve confirmed her boarding record,” a man dressed in black entered, kneeling on one knee respectfully.
“Hmph. Take two squads and bring the priestess back,” the middle-aged man ordered coldly.
“Yes, sir,” the man in black left the courtyard.
...
China, the Dongfang family.
Dongfang Wu looked at the man before him, surprised that he came seeking him first.
“Head of the Dongfang family, I’m now part of the Special Operations Unit. You don’t need to fear me attacking you; I’m only interested in one person,” the young man sitting on the sofa said with a smile.
“I understand. That person is in Fanyu City,” Dongfang Wu said, handing over a photo.
“Looks like she’s doing well. How is he?” the young man glanced at the photo and chuckled.
“He... has started from nothing. Quite impressive,” Dongfang Wu hesitated before answering.
“As expected of my son, but a pity his talent is lacking,” the young man smiled wryly.
“Beep beep beep.” The young man’s phone rang.
“Is it urgent?” he asked, answering the call.
“The priestess from Senkyō Shrine is in Fanyu City. Please protect her. She must not be harmed,” a calm voice came through the phone.
“No problem,” the young man replied with a confident smile, glancing at the photo on the table.
...
Three days later.
Yun Xuan and Yun Xue were staying in the mountain villa. Jiang Yue had gone to protect Yun Xun’er, accompanied by two members of the Mizunotsuki clan.
The weather was gloomy, as if a storm was about to break.
Yun Xuan stood outside the villa while Yun Xue continued writing her novel inside. Because of the presence of Bing Xue and Bai Xue, Yun Xue kept some distance from Yun Xuan.
Yun Xuan told Yun Xue that these people were his friends, and Yun Xue, clever as she was, didn’t ask further, trusting him.
“Can I have a go? I really can’t resist anymore...” Huihui stood beside Yun Xuan, swaying her body.
“Wait a few days; you can come every day then. But if you do that here, you might get caught and put in a cage for research,” Yun Xuan rolled his eyes. Huihui simply couldn’t stay calm without unleashing explosive magic.
“Fine, I’ll hold on a few more days. But the magic power here is so scarce, I guess I’ll need half a month to build enough energy for one burst,” Huihui bit her lip and endured.
“This is a technology world without magic or fighting energy, so naturally, there’s no magic power here,” Yun Xuan said, exasperated.
“What’s fighting energy?” Huihui asked curiously.
“It’s energy similar to magic,” Yun Xuan answered casually.
“Someone’s broken in,” Bai Yi appeared behind Yun Xuan. She was monitoring all surroundings along with others.
“Use tranquilizer darts to attack,” Yun Xuan smiled.
“Yes.” Bai Yi left with five other Mizunotsuki members, heading down the mountain.
Soon, sounds of combat echoed. The heavy rain began, masking the noise perfectly.
The six Mizunotsuki members returned unharmed, having captured eight men in black.
Yun Xuan locked the eight men in the basement, binding their hands, feet, and mouths.
...
Xuanyue Restaurant.
Yun Xun’er gazed at the pouring rain outside, a sense of unease rising within her.
“Welcome...” she froze as a guest entered. How could he still be alive?!
“Xun’er, I didn’t expect to find you in a place like this. I stayed below for over ten years and finally reached Innate level. Today, I will take you away; together, we will rebuild the Yun family,” the young man smiled.
It was the same young man from Dongfang Wu's household.
“Y-your appearance hasn’t changed?” Yun Xun’er looked at him in horror.
“Innate masters can extend their lifespan. Didn’t you know? Oh, although you’ve reached Innate power, you haven’t truly attained the Innate realm. No wonder you’re the genius chosen by our Yun family,” the young man drew a long sword from behind his back.
The restaurant was empty; the two Mizunotsuki members had gone out with waitstaff to a gathering at Qiuyi Tower. Only Yun Xun’er and Jiang Yue remained inside.
“Shh.” The sword slashed toward Yun Xun’er’s face.
Startled, Jiang Yue rushed out, gun in hand, aiming at the young man like facing a deadly foe.
“Clang!” The sword was blocked by a fruit knife in Yun Xun’er’s left hand.
With a swift movement, the young man appeared behind Jiang Yue and knocked him down with a palm strike.
“Let’s spar for once. It wouldn’t do to let an ordinary person interfere. Come with me,” the young man said playfully, walking out.
Yun Xun’er glanced at Jiang Yue, locked the door, and followed the young man.
In the torrential rain, the two leapt over tall buildings, their speed so fast only their silhouettes were visible.
They stopped atop an abandoned building. Yun Xun’er, holding the fruit knife, was completely dry as if protected by some barrier.
The young man was the same, both standing in the downpour, staring at each other.
“Yun Zhongxian, what exactly do you want?” Yun Xun’er asked coldly.
“First, thank you for caring for my nearly useless son all these years. Second, thank you for not taking revenge on the Yun family back then. I heard he’s gained some talent and wealth now—should be enough for me to continue my research, right?” Yun Zhongxian smiled cruelly.
“He’s not useless!” Yun Xun’er snapped, her pupils glowing gold.
“Don’t get too agitated, or you might trigger the World-Destroying Golden Flame, and then this world is finished,” Yun Zhongxian waved his hand.
Yun Xun’er’s golden eyes flickered as she charged at Yun Zhongxian.
“Clang clang.” The clash of metal rang out; surprisingly, they were evenly matched.
“As expected of the genius I personally created, the one codenamed ‘Child of God,’” Yun Zhongxian wielded his sword with ease.
“Don’t call me by that name!” Yun Xun’er’s golden eyes blazed, her speed increasing.
“Too bad, I’m already an Innate master,” Yun Zhongxian sneered, sweeping his sword. A sharp sword aura shot toward Yun Xun’er.
“Pfft!” Yun Xun’er was knocked back, coughing blood. Her fruit knife shattered, and a shallow wound appeared on her body.
“Sorry for injuring you. Taking away someone so important to him, he should be ruthless enough to kill me, right?” Yun Zhongxian muttered, advancing.
“Get away from her!” a fierce roar sounded. Both Yun Xun’er and Yun Zhongxian looked towards the void.
“Oh no!” Yun Zhongxian’s heart skipped a beat as a power armor appeared before him, delivering a punch to his abdomen.
“Boom!” Yun Xuan’s fist struck Yun Zhongxian, sending him flying through a wall.
