Chapter 5: Meeting Again, No Interest
By the time Gu Mang and Gu Si arrived, the auction had already begun. Lin Shuang’s seat was easy to find; it was in the most conspicuous spot.
Gu Si had never been to a place like this before. All the way in, his eyes had been wide with wonder, and he kept exclaiming, "Wow!" He looked every bit like a boy who had never seen the world.
When Lin Shuang saw Gu Si—wearing a black baseball cap, a small black denim jacket, black trousers, and little black leather boots, with features so delicate and pretty they were practically heart-melting—she was almost overwhelmed by his cuteness.
"Damn! This kid is too cute. Are you trying to trick me into having a son?"
Gu Mang ignored the fussing Lin Shuang, sat down on the sofa, and tossed a carton of Wangzai milk into Gu Si’s arms.
"Don't even think about alcohol," she said slowly, her tone carrying a distinct sense of authority.
Gu Si pursed his lips and poked a straw into the milk carton.
He watched as his sister picked up a bottle of alcohol, hit the edge of the table at a sharp angle to pop the cap, caught it with precise movements, and tossed it onto the table with a casual flick.
His sister was so cool!
Gu Mang took a sip of her drink. "When does the jade auction start?"
"It just started. The final item isn't up for another hour," Lin Shuang said, gesturing with her chin toward a booth on the second floor. She smiled mischievously. "Lu Chengzhou is right there."
Gu Mang tilted her head back to drink, the curve of her neck alluring and her jawline as fair as jade. She glanced over with lazy, indifferent eyes.
The man was lounging on the sofa, his arm draped over the backrest. His black shirt was rolled up to his elbows, revealing porcelain-white skin, and his clean, slender fingers held a cigarette.
As the lights flickered, the side profile of his face amidst the smoke was enough to bewitch anyone.
Gu Mang looked away. "Oh."
"Oh?" Lin Shuang couldn't believe her overly calm reaction. "Big boss, just because you’re devastatingly beautiful yourself doesn’t mean you can look down on this rare and elegant Lu scion of the capital."

Gu Mang spat out three words: "Not interested."
Lin Shuang: "..."
Up on the second floor.
Lu Chengzhou had noticed Gu Mang the moment she walked through the bar’s entrance.
It wasn't that he had the spare time; it was because Gu Mang had brought a child in and had been stopped by the bar staff for questioning.
She had said something, and the staff had let them pass.
Bringing a son to a bar caused quite a stir below.
Especially with that face of hers; countless eyes were fixed on her, the desire in their gazes undisguised.
The people with Lu Chengzhou had noticed the scene by following his line of sight.
Qin Fang clicked his tongue in wonder, "In all my years, this is the first time I've seen such a combination at a bar."
The kid was dressed exactly like a miniature version of the woman—all in black.
Mother and son actually looked quite alike.
He Yidu swirled his wine glass in a measured, leisurely way and glanced down. From his angle, he could see Gu Si’s face clearly, and a rare flicker of interest crossed his eyes. "The kid is drinking Wangzai milk."
Qin Fang craned his neck to look. "Damn! Drinking Wangzai milk at a bar? How creative."
He Yidu remarked, "They both look pretty good."
The two had very different styles of beauty.
The woman, with her bare face, was so beautiful that one had to wonder how such features could even exist.
The child was equally refined.

Qin Fang nodded.
Lu Chengzhou didn't say a word.
To these young masters, no novelty lasted more than a few seconds, and they quickly lost interest in Gu Mang and her companion.
Qin Fang asked, "Brother Cheng, have you still not found that miracle doctor?"
He Yidu looked up.
Lu Chengzhou’s dark eyes were deep and thick, dangerous and cold. He took a drag of his cigarette. "No. At least two hackers are helping hide their tracks."
He Yidu was also puzzled. "Has no one ever seen what that miracle doctor looks like? We don't even know if they’re a man or a woman. But since we know they exist, it doesn't make sense that they haven't left any traces."
Qin Fang said, "It’s no wonder Brother Cheng can’t find them. Look at the places that miracle doctor appears—they aren't exactly places people frequent. It’s either a school or a bar. Hardly the kind of place a white-clad angel dedicated to saving lives would go!"
The places were crowded and chaotic, making it impossible to track them down.
He Yidu nodded in agreement. "Brother Cheng, don't be too anxious. There are so many doctors at the Lu residence; Grandmother Lu will be fine."
Lu Chengzhou stubbed out his cigarette. "Is that jade really as miraculous as they say? More effective than sleeping pills?"
He Yidu replied, "I haven't seen it or tried it, it’s all just rumors. But things auctioned at Tianque are never fake."
Grandmother Lu’s condition had become so severe that she couldn't even sleep peacefully, and her spirit was very poor.
Coming to the Tianque auction was already a case of treating a dead horse as if it were still alive.
Lu Chengzhou swept his gaze over the auction stage; the jade would be up shortly.
