Chapter 40: Outsiders Have No Right to Speak Ill of Class Twenty
Lu Yang took Chu Yao and Little Fatty to the school supermarket to buy some things.
“What do girls like to eat?” Lu Yang asked, both hands in his pockets, looking thoroughly roguish.
Little Fatty grinned. “Brother Yang, are you buying snacks for Sister Mang?”
Lu Yang shot him a glance. “Mind your own business. Why do you talk so much nonsense?”
Little Fatty pouted. “If you’re going to be so fierce, Brother Yang, I’m not telling you what Sister Mang likes to eat.”
Lu Yang narrowed his eyes. “I’m Gu Mang’s deskmate, and even I don’t know what she likes. How do you know?”
Little Fatty puffed out his chest proudly. “I really do know!”
Chu Yao rubbed his chin. “I think I’ve seen a few lollipops in Gu Mang’s desk.”
Lu Yang pondered solemnly for several seconds. “Could it be that Gu Mang likes sweet things?”
The three of them wore expressions as serious as if they were discussing matters of national importance, yet they still could not reach a conclusion.
Just then, two girls walked past them.
“Do you think what Teacher Luo said is true? That Gu Mang is terrible at studying, and that she was even expelled from her previous school for causing trouble?”
“How would Teacher Luo dare spread rumors about something like that? But why would the school admit a student like her?”
“I don’t know. She’s so beautiful. Could it be that she…”
“Shh, don’t say things like that. That girl looks dangerous. Let’s just go buy something to eat.”
After the two girls left, Little Fatty cautiously glanced at Lu Yang.
The boy’s face had turned cold and grim.
“Where’s Teacher Luo Songhua’s office?”
“Same office as Teacher Xi,” Chu Yao replied.
Luo Songhua taught physics and belonged to the science faculty.
Lu Yang turned and headed straight for the academic building, bristling with fury.
Chu Yao hurriedly dragged Little Fatty after him, afraid Lu Yang might actually beat Luo Songhua.
They had disliked Luo Songhua for a long time. With old grudges and a new offense added to the mix, Lu Yang might cause serious trouble if he acted on impulse.
The door to the science faculty office was kicked open.
The teachers inside jumped in alarm. When they saw Lu Yang’s dark expression, they frowned.
“Lu Yang, how many times have I told you? Knock before entering a teacher’s office.”
Seeing Lu Yang in one of his hotheaded moods, Chu Yao quickly told Little Fatty to go call Gu Mang.
Lu Yang walked straight to Luo Songhua’s desk.
“Were you the one spreading rumors about Gu Mang?”

Luo Songhua leaned back in her chair. “Lu Yang, have you come to stand up for Gu Mang and settle accounts with me? You’re a student, so behave like one. Didn’t your teacher ever teach you to respect your elders and your teachers?”
Lu Yang let out a cold laugh. “You call yourself a teacher? Don’t think that teaching Class One makes you better than everyone else. Take a good look at yourself. People from Class Twenty aren’t yours to criticize!”
“You!” Luo Songhua shot to her feet, her middle-aged face contorted with anger. “Watch your mouth! Don’t think that just because your father is a commissioner, you can do whatever you please! What student hasn’t been reprimanded by a teacher?”
“What do Gu Mang’s grades have to do with you? Just because she doesn’t study as well as the students in your class, does that mean you can smear her?” Lu Yang towered over Luo Songhua by a full head, looking down at her. “And as for Gu Mang’s past, have you ever bothered to learn the truth? You’re awfully proud of your prejudices. With just a few careless words, you’ve turned the entire grade against her.”
Luo Songhua folded her arms and gave a disdainful snort. “A student like her—what good could she possibly have done?”
Lu Yang’s jaw tightened. He pointed at her. “What Gu Mang is like is none of your concern! I’m warning you: if you don’t apologize to Gu Mang today, this matter isn’t over!”
Luo Songhua rolled her eyes, sank back into her chair, and said sharply, “Get out of here right now, or bear the consequences!”
“I’d like to see what consequences can possibly hurt me. You’ve been spoiled rotten!” Lu Yang’s temper flared at once. He rolled up his sleeves, ready to start a fight.
“Lu Yang.”
A low female voice suddenly rang out.
Check-in
Sister Mang’s next big moment is coming soon.
