Chapter 24: The Big Boss Says She Wants to Go to School
Old Mrs. Lu swept her gaze around the room. "Where is your third brother?"
She remembered seeing that unfilial grandson when she drifted into consciousness earlier.
Lu Xiwei’s eyes stalled for a second before returning to their usual calm. She spoke softly, "Third Brother left as soon as you were out of the danger zone. He is usually very busy."
"He's busy my foot!" Old Mrs. Lu snapped, furious.
She hadn't even fully regained consciousness, and he had already run off!
"Grandmother, please don't be angry," Lu Xiwei coaxed patiently. "The uncles, aunts, and cousins are still waiting outside. Should I ask them to come in?"
Old Mrs. Lu took a few deep breaths, her tone settling. "Tell them to go back for now; they can come again once I’m able to get out of bed. With you here, I feel at ease."
"Alright."
Seeing the old lady treating her even better than before, Lu Xiwei’s eyes lit up.
After this incident, her status in the Lu family would surely rise to the next level.
The sixth uncle and that woman had already returned to Ming City. As long as Third Brother kept his mouth shut, no one in the Lu family would ever bring it up.
As for the medicine that woman prescribed—the blood clot had already dissipated. With her own medical skills, she was perfectly capable of tending to Grandmother’s recovery herself.

Ming City.
Lu Shangjin stepped out of his car and walked briskly into a restaurant.
Pushing open the door to the private room, he found Gu Mang and Meng Jinyang already eating.
Four dishes and a soup—quite a feast.
He hadn't eaten since noon and had rushed over here; couldn't they have waited for him?!
It was too difficult being him.
Lu Shangjin didn't dare voice his complaints, so he put on a smile instead. "Gu Mang, you needed to see me about something?"
The young girl sat with one leg crossed, one hand holding chopsticks, her arm resting on the table.
She held the posture of a boss—arrogant and unrestrained.
Her eyes were calm and profound, nine parts cold, with a hint of ruthlessness hidden beneath. Her presence was overwhelming.
She gestured carelessly toward the seat opposite her with her chopsticks. "Eat while we talk."
Lu Shangjin didn't stand on ceremony; he sat down and picked up his chopsticks.
Meng Jinyang didn't know Lu Shangjin and, assuming he was a relative of Gu Mang’s, greeted him politely.
After a few bites, Gu Mang spoke in a languid tone: "Arrange a school for me. Two spots. Jinyang and I are going to school."
*Cough, cough, cough...*
Lu Shangjin choked instantly, his face flushing beet red.
Meng Jinyang was silent for a second, her brows knitting slightly as she lowered her gaze.
Everyone thought Gu Mang wasn't the type for school—wouldn't it be better to just work?
Lu Shangjin finally caught his breath, his face still flushed as he asked in disbelief, "What did you just say? You want to go to school?"
Gu Mang raised an eyebrow. Her features, beautiful enough to make others feel inferior, held a hint of wild, wicked charm. "Is that a problem?"
Lu Shangjin let out two dry laughs.
But as he met Gu Mang’s narrowed gaze, his smile vanished instantly.
He composed himself, turning serious. "It’s not a problem. It’s just... a bit unbelievable."
Given Gu Mang’s "glorious achievements" back in school, he was genuinely afraid she might blow up the campus if she felt even slightly displeased.
Besides, did a big boss like her really need to go to school?
