At Waltz Restaurant, Ye Fei and the other two were in the middle of their meal when a young guest arrived at the entrance. He drove a luxury car worth well over a million, was dressed in a suit and tie, and wore an air of arrogance.

After tossing his keys to the valet with a casual flick of his hand, Huang Tianqiao headed upstairs.

Once inside, he swept the dining room with his eyes, giving no thought at all to the feelings of the other patrons.

“Huang Tianqiao? What is he doing here?” Liu Zixuan said in surprise. Seeing him searching the room, she knew he had come for her, and then she looked at Ye Fei beside her and suddenly had an idea.

“Ye Fei, could you do me a favor?” she asked, her voice turning unexpectedly gentle as her eyes flickered around him.

“Zixuan, what is it?” Zhong Yuhan asked, puzzled.

“There’s a guy who’s been pursuing me. He probably came looking for me, but I don’t like him. Ye Fei, could you pretend to be my boyfriend and make him give up?” Liu Zixuan said.

“No problem. Just tell me what you need me to do,” Ye Fei said with an easy laugh.

“Come sit over here with me.”

Ye Fei smiled and sat beside her without hesitation.

“Later, help me with my dishes, and put your arm around my waist. Act naturally. Show him I’m taken. Let him know I’m already yours,” Liu Zixuan instructed.

Ye Fei nodded with a grin. For him, this kind of pretended intimacy was nothing at all; he could make it look so real that no one would be able to tell the difference.

Just then, Huang Tianqiao spotted Liu Zixuan as well. But when he saw a strange man sitting beside her, anger surged through him and he strode over with long, forceful steps.

“Oh? There’s another beauty here too. Wow—she’s even prettier!” As Huang Tianqiao drew near, he suddenly noticed Zhong Yuhan sitting nearby as well. Her looks seemed to surpass Liu Zixuan’s by a fraction, and at once a new idea began to take shape in his mind.

“Zixuan,” Huang Tianqiao called out. Though he had now taken an interest in Zhong Yuhan, Liu Zixuan was still one of his targets. Seeing her with another man naturally put him in a foul mood.

Ye Fei was fully in character. He picked up a dish for Zixuan with complete ease, then glanced at Huang Tianqiao as if a little surprised before asking, “Zixuan, who is this?”

“He’s the son of my father’s colleague. We’ve known each other since we were little. His name is Huang Tianqiao,” Liu Zixuan introduced.

“Oh, hello,” Ye Fei said, and as he spoke, his hand settled naturally at Liu Zixuan’s waist, drawing her close. It was as if he were silently provoking Huang Tianqiao, declaring his ownership over Liu Zixuan.

For some reason, Liu Zixuan suddenly recalled that scene in the dormitory. Her face flushed with a shy blush, and the two of them truly did seem like a loving couple.

Huang Tianqiao’s anger deepened.

Zhong Yuhan was also somewhat astonished. To her eye, the two of them showed no trace of awkwardness. Both Ye Fei and Liu Zixuan acted so naturally, with not the slightest hint of pretense, that one could almost mistake it for the real thing.

“These two are unbelievable,” Zhong Yuhan thought. “Their acting is so good it ought to win an award.” Watching Huang Tianqiao get fooled into a daze, she nearly laughed aloud. Falling for a girl as clever and mischievous as Liu Zixuan? He’d be lucky not to be played to death.

“Zixuan, who is this gentleman?” Huang Tianqiao asked in a low voice.

“He’s my boyfriend. Ye Fei,” Liu Zixuan said sweetly.

“I never heard you had a boyfriend last time. Zixuan, you’re not lying to me, are you? You didn’t just find someone to play a part, did you?” Huang Tianqiao challenged.

Liu Zixuan instantly bristled.

“Huang Tianqiao, what business is this of yours? Whether I have a boyfriend or when I get one—do I need to report that to you? Do you have any idea who you are?” she snapped.

Then, with a sudden movement, she turned and kissed Ye Fei on the lips, even slipping her tongue into his mouth.

“See that? He’s my boyfriend. Would I kiss some random guy just to fake it? Let alone French-kiss him. Lie to you? Why would I waste my time lying to you, as if you were someone important,” Liu Zixuan said angrily.

Well, that was a little too daring. Kissing someone so casually? Still, it only showed how much Zixuan hated Huang Tianqiao, that she was willing to go so far just to refuse him. Zhong Yuhan watched with silent exasperation. Her friend was simply too blunt; at times, she really would do anything.

After the kiss, Liu Zixuan herself seemed to realize she had gone a bit too far. She had even given Ye Fei a French kiss. But now it was too late to retreat. She had already kissed him—if she stopped pretending now, everything they had done would be wasted. Then the loss would be real.

After speaking, she even took Ye Fei’s arm and leaned against his shoulder.

Unfortunately for them, a student dining in the restaurant had caught those moments on camera. He even took a few close-up shots of the kiss and the intimate lean against his shoulder. When this got back to school, it would surely cause quite a stir.

Of course, Ye Fei and the others knew nothing of this.

“Huang Tianqiao, we’re eating now. You can go,” Liu Zixuan said, issuing an unambiguous eviction.

“All right. Since you already have a boyfriend, Zixuan, it shouldn’t interfere with me pursuing someone else, should it?” Huang Tianqiao said, and then he sat down beside Zhong Yuhan.

“Student, hello. My name is Huang Tianqiao. What’s yours?” he asked.

Damn it. Ye Fei nearly stood up on the spot and threw Huang Tianqiao out by the collar. The brat had actually set his sights on Zhong Yuhan. If he managed to take her away, wouldn’t that be a massive loss?

But before Ye Fei could move, Zhong Yuhan sprang to her feet like a cat whose tail had been set alight.

Liu Zixuan shot Zhong Yuhan an apologetic look. She had never expected that dragging Ye Fei into this performance would end up pulling Zhong Yuhan into the mess as well. The little porridge shop run by the Zhong family could not afford to offend a second-generation official like Huang Tianqiao.

“Huang Tianqiao, don’t get any ideas about Xiaohan. If you’ve got anything to say, come at me,” Liu Zixuan said.

Ye Fei seemed to take it as if his girlfriend was being bullied. He rose with a dark expression and said coldly, “I’m warning you. Stay away from Zixuan and Yuhan.”

“Kid, stop acting so full of yourself. Who do you think you are?” Huang Tianqiao said contemptuously.

Ye Fei was dressed very plainly, not a single piece of designer clothing on him. Huang Tianqiao could tell at a glance that he would be easy to push around, and his confidence immediately swelled.

“Get lost,” Ye Fei snapped.

He reached out, seized Huang Tianqiao, and with one hand hoisted the hundred-plus-pound man clear off the ground before flinging him straight out. Then Ye Fei stood on the seat like a crouching tiger, glaring fiercely. If Huang Tianqiao dared come back, he would simply lift him again and throw him out once more.

The disturbance quickly brought the security guards and the manager.

“If the two of you are here to make trouble, then I’m afraid we can only ask you to leave,” the manager said.

Seeing the restaurant staff arrive, Huang Tianqiao said, “My father is Deputy Captain Huang Jian of the Criminal Investigation Brigade. I came here to eat, and this man just assaulted me and disrupted my meal.”

The manager heard that he was the son of a Criminal Investigation Brigade deputy captain, and the restaurant was only a modest establishment. A man like that was not someone they could afford to offend. It seemed they would have to ask the young man to endure a bit of grievance.

“Sir...” the manager began.

“My father is Liu Kangguo of the Criminal Investigation Brigade, and I’d like to say something fair. You can’t just listen to Huang Tianqiao’s version of events,” Liu Zixuan said loudly.

Another one from the Criminal Investigation Brigade. Although she did not specify his rank, it was obviously not lower than Huang Jian’s, or else she would not have brought out her father to speak for her.

Fine. Neither side could be offended. The manager was left in a difficult position.

But Ye Fei did not care about any of that. Seeing that Huang Tianqiao still dared invoke his father to intimidate people, he strode over, grabbed him again, and said coldly, “Looks like you still haven’t learned your lesson. Trying to use your father’s name, are you?”

With a snort, Ye Fei lifted Huang Tianqiao and sent him crashing down the stairway from the second floor.

Brutal. Absolutely brutal.

Knowing that the other man’s father was a deputy captain of the Criminal Investigation Brigade and still daring to do that, everyone in the restaurant began to suspect that Ye Fei must have an even greater background.

“No wonder he’s after the daughter of a Criminal Investigation Brigade deputy captain,” many people thought as they looked at Ye Fei differently now.

Liu Zixuan thought to herself, “Why is Ye Fei so violent? He actually threw Huang Tianqiao down the stairs.”

But things had already gone this far. All she could do was explain everything to her father honestly. Even then, she would probably be scolded harshly.

As for whether Huang Tianqiao would retaliate against Ye Fei—well, with Zhang Xiaoxiao as a protective talisman, very few people in Deep Sea City would be able to do anything to him. Huang Tianqiao’s father would not be among them.

A meal had ended up like this, and none of the three had any appetite left. After settling the bill, they left the restaurant.

As for the unlucky Huang Tianqiao, his misfortunes had only just begun. Not only had Ye Fei tossed him down the stairs, but his luxury car worth over a million had also been driven away.

When he went back to the restaurant to ask about it, he discovered that the person who had taken his keys earlier had not been a restaurant employee at all. In other words, he had run into a scammer, and his prized car had been stolen.
