"Leave everything to me, it's absolutely no problem! After work, I'll take you to meet my master. He can teach you how to further awaken the spirit within your body. Then you'll have the power to help me solve my problem!" Director Tyrannosaurus pounded his chest with a bang, exuding confidence, as if this was nothing worth worrying about.

"But, but..." To be honest, Wu Ming wasn't too keen on meeting some superstitious old man; who knows, it might even be some kind of cult!

"Quit your hesitating. If you respect your elder brother, wait for me this evening and I'll drive you there. If you don't, well..." Director Tyrannosaurus let out two threatening snorts.

"Fine," Wu Ming replied, helpless. He thought, if it really is a cult, I'll just stick to my principles and not let myself be brainwashed. After all, I'm just a poor nobody, neither wealthy nor attractive, so there's nothing to lose. It's not like I'd be a sacrifice for the director's master!

"That's the spirit! Now that's more like it!" Director Tyrannosaurus gave Wu Ming a hearty slap on the back. Wu Ming jolted, choked on his own saliva, and nearly lost his breath.

"Can I leave now?"

"Wait here. When work is over, I'll take you to my master's house! Then you'll get a week of leave to study with him!" With that, Director Tyrannosaurus got up, opened the office door for Wu Ming, and said, "You can go out now!"

"Oh," Wu Ming thought to himself, so that's why I'm getting leave—he'd already planned for me to visit his master and learn some mystical nonsense. The ultimate goal was still for his own benefit. No wonder the textbooks always talked about capitalists exploiting the surplus value of the workers.

"Did Tyrannosaurus say he's going to dock your pay?" The moment Wu Ming stepped out and returned to his desk, the chubby colleagues surrounded him, bombarding him with questions.

"Director Fang is actually very considerate. After learning I was sick by accident, not only did he not blame me for missing work these past few days, he even approved a week of leave for me to recuperate!" Wu Ming glanced at Director Tyrannosaurus' silhouette behind the frosted glass door, finally letting go of his worries. This ghostly power was truly insidious. He'd need to secretly warn Chubby, lest he somehow attract its attention.

"Bah!" His colleagues all flashed him a middle finger and dispersed.

"Wu Ming, you really are obedient—turned into a sycophant in the blink of an eye," Xiao Mei said with a playful twist of her voluptuous hips as she walked away, her ample chest swaying dangerously. Wu Ming and Chubby both watched, nearly drooling. Her figure was simply irresistible, and Wu Ming couldn't help but wonder how such a slender waist could support such a weight.

"Wu Ming, I'm cutting ties with you. You're not allowed to lust after my goddess!" Chubby smacked Wu Ming on the head, making him choke on his saliva and cough uncontrollably.

"Cough, cough, cough—you're such a traitor. Didn't you say you'd given up on Xiao Mei?" Wu Ming quickly took a sip of hot water.

"I want both the fish and the bear's paw, what can I do? Tender little girls are adorable, mature beauties are alluring—how am I supposed to choose? Ah, ah, ah, I'm going mad for love." Chubby's gestures and expressions were wildly exaggerated.

"Come on, you haven't even managed to win one, let alone two. I think you should try chasing the hotpot shop's little waitress. As for Xiao Mei, you might as well give up."

"Why?" Chubby asked seriously.

"Pfft, because Xiao Mei has her eye on me, the handsome one. And I intend to pursue her as well. It's mutual affection, you see. Honestly, her figure is enough to drive a man to crime!" Wu Ming couldn't help but glance back at Xiao Mei's shapely hips, licking his lips.

As Xiao Mei walked away, she sensed his gaze, turned, and shot Wu Ming a flirtatious glance. Wu Ming's heart melted instantly.

"Damn, there's definitely something going on between you two. Wu Ming, you're no brother of mine!" Chubby howled.

"Fine, if you're heartless, I can't be unrighteous. I'll let you have Xiao Mei!" Chubby pounded his chest, pretending to be noble and self-sacrificing.

"Whatever, I'm done with you. I'll go sort out the data!" Having missed several days of work, Wu Ming had a backlog of design proposals, so he turned to his computer to catch up. After all, he'd soon be taking another week off to study with Director Tyrannosaurus' master, and who knew what that charlatan could teach him!

Time passed swiftly, and soon it was time to clock out. After bidding farewell to his colleagues, Director Tyrannosaurus took Wu Ming to the gate of a villa on the outskirts.

Wu Ming looked closely; the grounds were enormous, with a high wall separating a vast area from its surroundings. Many cars were parked around the wall, several of them luxury sports models. Evergreen plants were entwined all over the wall, and the snow from a few days ago had yet to melt. The melting snow had frozen into crystalline icicles hanging from the vines, shimmering with strange light in the sunlight.

Wu Ming was lost in thought when suddenly, with a soft creak, a small door opened in the wall. Amidst the towering wall, it seemed oddly out of place—like a dog hole in a fortress. The sound wasn't loud, but in the stillness of the countryside, it was strikingly noticeable. Strangely, the area was almost too quiet—no city traffic, no rural animals. If it weren't broad daylight, Wu Ming would have felt afraid; for the first time, he realized that absolute silence could be more terrifying than noise.
