Heaven and Earth, mysterious and vast; the universe, ancient and boundless.

After Pangu separated the heavens from the earth, his essence, spirit, and soul transformed into three great deities: Fuxi, Shennong, and Nüwa—revered as the Three Sovereigns.

The spiritual power once contained within Pangu's body dispersed throughout the world, dividing into the Five Spirits of water, fire, wind, thunder, and earth, which permeated the realms. Pangu's heart hung suspended between heaven and earth, becoming the bridge that connected the celestial and mortal realms.

Later, Fuxi fashioned the gods by shaping bodies from fruits borne of the divine tree, nourished by the purest essence of the celestial realm, and infused them with his own potent energy. Shennong crafted the beasts—creatures both great and small—by molding forms from earth, stone, grass, and wood, breathing his own vigor into them. Nüwa, blending earth and water, mingling her own blood and spiritual power, and shaping them with willow branches in her own image, created humankind.

The beast race, born without wisdom, soon found in their ranks a leader of extraordinary intellect after Shennong’s sudden death—Chiyou. Chiyou led the beasts in a war against humanity, seeking to claim dominion over the earth. Pressed to the brink, humanity pleaded for aid from the gods. With divine assistance, and under the command of a remarkable general, Xuanyuan, the allied forces of gods and humans defeated Chiyou’s armies.

In his final moments, Chiyou exerted his remaining strength to open a passage to another world, sending his surviving followers through. There, these remnants gradually cultivated themselves into demons and thus the demon realm was born.

The passage Chiyou created became known as the Well of Gods and Demons—the sole gateway between the divine and demonic worlds. It is said that only those of immense power can force it open, though it will also open on its own at intervals.

To prevent invasion, the gods established wards and a legion of guardians at the entrance to the Well, while the demons too fortified their side to repel divine incursions.

As more mortals ascended to godhood, the pure essence of the world increasingly flowed toward the heavens, leaving less for the human realm. The distance between heaven and earth grew, destabilizing the Well of Gods and Demons, and the intervals between its openings grew ever shorter.

In time, certain beasts, through cultivation, awakened the latent power of Shennong within them, becoming extraordinary beings known as fiends, while humans who awakened the spirit of Nüwa through their own cultivation became immortals.

Thus the six realms of existence were formed: gods, immortals, demons, fiends, humans, and ghosts—maintaining a fragile balance on the surface. And so, our story begins on Mount Kunlun.
