Chapter 97: The Secret of Divinity
A message rang out: congratulations, host. You have obtained the divinity of the Sea King. If you choose to refine it, you may draw the pursuit of the Sea King from multiple planes.
Unlike Eris, Poseidon was a genuine god of Olympus. In some timeline, the Sea King’s house might well reign supreme, and he had to proceed with caution.
Elsewhere, Dragon also encountered the cherub Astaroje.
This one was famous indeed. Legend said he had once seduced Adam and Eve, leading humanity out of Eden, and his signature move, the Venom Fang Cobra Killer, could turn both fists into the fangs of a cobra and unleash a ferocious assault.
Yet in Feng Zhe’s eyes, this man was simply an upgraded version of the Sea Serpent Saint of the city, poisonous and murderous all at once, a creature with high attack, high evasion, and a body steeped in venom.
Such an assassin, had he met the hotheaded Pegasus, would surely have struck in a single blow. But by cruel chance, he had met Dragon, calm by nature and born for hard battles.
Indeed, at first Dragon had tried to withstand the attack with the Dragon Shield. But when the Venomous Eyes Cobra shattered the shield and pierced his body, the near-dead Dragon suddenly erupted with power far beyond his limits.
In the end, a single Rising Dragon Blow sent him exploding into dust and gore. He was dead beyond all doubt.
“How did this trash manage to kill the Virgo Saint Shaka?”
Feng Zhe shook his head. It could only mean that Shaka in this world was far too weak.
After defeating the cherub, Dragon collapsed very straightforwardly to the ground.
Feng Zhe came over and healed his injuries at once.
“Thank you, Your Excellency, High Priest.”
Dragon inherited the Eastern tradition of humility and courtesy, which Feng Zhe found quite pleasing, and he said, “Go and protect Miss Saori.”
Dragon gave a reply and quickly ran off.
Watching the way he ran, with his long black hair streaming behind him, Feng Zhe felt an impulse to cut it all off.
He cast that absurd thought aside and made his way to the third thorn root.
The setup was the same, the water pouch was the same, but the opponent here was the Sun God, Abel.
Last time, Abel had tormented Feng Zhe mercilessly. Now the tables had turned, and Abel, still only in embryonic form, could do him no harm at all.
“Aries, how about we make a deal?”
Facing death, the Sun God Abel did not go mad like Eris, nor did he remain stubborn to the end like Poseidon. Instead, he was very calm, as before, elegant and proud.
“Oh? I have no deal to make with you!”
To bargain with a god, and with Abel of all people, Feng Zhe was not foolish enough for that.
“Do not jump to conclusions so early. Even if you seal me away forever, I would amount to nothing more than a shadow in this phantom world. You would gain nothing at all, and on the contrary, you would be hunted by the Sun God of the main world. Why bother?”
Hearing this, Feng Zhe smiled and said, “Then what does Your Highness Abel wish to trade?”
“I know your true aim is to become a god. I will tell you the secret of godhood. How about that?”
Feng Zhe laughed again and said at once, “The Ninth Sense plus divinity. Do you think I do not know that?”
“No. In the main world, that would at most make one a legend, not even a false god!”
Feng Zhe was secretly startled. So becoming a god was not nearly so simple. He then said, “Then I need to see whether the value of this secret is enough to spare you!”
Abel smiled. “Before becoming a god, one must first understand the concept of the multidimensional multiverse...”
As Feng Zhe listened, he felt shock rise in him again and again.
As is well known, every world is a three-dimensional world. The time dimension is irreversible, meaning past, present, and future. Every second that passes is a second one can never return to; this is the essential trait of a three-dimensional world, the time dimension.
But that is not the full face of the world. Feng Zhe had once borrowed the power of the God of Time to traverse a timeline and personally traveled to the year 1743, where it was likewise a real world.
This was the concept of four-dimensional spacetime, or rather the spatial dimension. In other words, the entire world exists along a single timeline. No matter where he is, Feng Zhe can go to any point in time.
Of course, even this was not the full truth. When one enters higher dimensions, many four-dimensional spaces exist simultaneously. This is the concept of parallel space, or the fifth dimension.
The world of Aries Avernir and the world of Saori and Pegasus were both in the twentieth century, yet they were entirely different worlds. That was a parallel world.
And such parallel worlds exist in countless numbers throughout this universe. That is the concept of the sixth dimension, or rather, the true nature of the universe.
A god is a being of six-dimensional spacetime. In any parallel world, so long as his will exists, it can manifest within that world, and that will is divinity.
Of course, whether this is truly the universe’s nature, or whether there are beings of even higher dimensions, is something even the gods want to know.
“So this is the truth of the multidimensional multiverse?”
“Indeed. If you wish to become a true god, mere divinity is far from enough. When divinity has accumulated to a sufficient degree, and is kindled, it can condense into an existence that symbolizes will. We call that the Godhead.”
Abel’s explanation made many things clear to Feng Zhe at once.
“Abel, I can spare you, but I must seal you within this world!”
Feng Zhe made up his mind. Abel’s words were indeed valuable.
A critical choice has appeared.
First option: Spend five thousand points of faith power to reseal the Sun God Abel in the demon realm.
Second option: Spend twenty thousand points of faith power to seal the Sun God Abel within the altar space and refine him afterward. The result is unknown.
Warning: If the Sun God Abel is refined, it may draw the pursuit of Abel from multiple planes.
“Choose option one!”
Feng Zhe did not choose to refine Abel, but instead sealed him back into the demon realm. That too could count as completing the deal.
Just before vanishing, Abel said once more, “Aries, as my final repayment, it seems there is some ancient god within that altar...”
The Sun God Abel vanished, but Feng Zhe’s eyelids began twitching violently.
Abel’s final warning sent a wave of panic through him.
The reason Feng Zhe’s cosmos had risen so rapidly was largely because of that altar space. So long as faith power was poured into the sacred flame, he could traverse to a mirror node and experience an entirely different life.
Yet the destination of that faith power had always been a mystery.
And from this exchange with Abel, he now understood: only a god, a six-dimensional being, could accomplish such things.
Then the answer was obvious...
I’m afraid the altar space itself is the domain of a god...
A chill crept unavoidably through Feng Zhe’s heart. What he had been doing was no different from scheming with a tiger for its hide...
