Chapter 100: The Altar Space Collapsed
Warning: If the host enters the Demon Realm, he must awaken the Ninth Sense, or he will be erased by the gods!
So that was it.
It seemed that entering the Demon Realm would take far more time than expected.
Ding! The host may merge divinity with the altar and enter the Demon Realm in mirrored form!
A cold smile flashed through Feng Zhe’s mind. The purpose of this altar was becoming clearer by the moment, and those warnings only confirmed the suspicion in his heart.
Then Feng Zhe produced the divinity of the God of War, Ares, and was just about to refine it when the entire altar space suddenly began to shake.
Please immediately place the divinity of Ares into the altar, or irreversible damage will occur...
He gave a mocking laugh. “So warnings are useless now, and you’ve moved on to threats?”
He looked at the altar with a sneer. He truly no longer wished to enter any mirrored node, not even once.
“Refine the divinity of Ares.”
Warning! During the refining process, irreversible...
Feng Zhe paid no attention to the altar’s warnings, nor would he stop because of its threats.
“Enough.”
At that moment, a mass of golden holy flame rose over the empty altar, and within that flame, a human silhouette appeared.
And when Feng Zhe saw who it was, he was struck dumb.
The newcomer was none other than Feng Zhe himself. Only this Feng Zhe before him possessed a far deeper cosmos, and his violet robes radiated overwhelming power.
“You are...?”
“I am you, one hundred years from now. I have crossed the axis of time to come here to stop you from refining Ares’s divinity!”
Feng Zhe’s eyelid twitched, suspicion clear in his gaze.
“I know you don’t trust me. But there is one thing you must understand: this world was created by gods, and gods will never permit a mortal to stain himself with divinity, especially not the divinity of a being like Ares, a chief deity...”
“If you want to increase your power now, the only way to gain the greatest benefit is to place the divinity into the altar. The altar will not harm you!”
The violet-robed Feng Zhe looked anxious, especially when he saw the divinity in Feng Zhe’s hand; desire flickered openly in his eyes.
Feng Zhe looked at the version of himself from a century later, nudged the divinity in his hand a little closer to the altar, and the holy flame there immediately burned fiercer.
But then Feng Zhe smiled and said, “Refine it.”
Refining...
Ding! Three shards of divinity obtained. Merge them?
“No!”
The violet-robed Feng Zhe roared in fury, glaring at Feng Zhe with great anger.
Feng Zhe smiled and said again, “You are not me from a hundred years in the future. You are the god hidden within this altar.”
The violet-robed Feng Zhe stared at him darkly and said in a low voice, “How did you discover it?”
“It is nothing more than the old question of whether the chicken came first or the egg. If you were truly me from a hundred years in the future, the moment you saw yourself you would have deviated from the timeline. That would only create a new parallel dimension, which means I could never have met my future self.”
This was, at its core, a philosophical problem. Even if he became a god a hundred years from now, he would never return to the past, for that would create irreversible consequences for his future.
It was like the butterfly effect. No one could predict whether a careless remark made by his future self a hundred years from now might deprive him of the chance to become a god.
So the answer was obvious. The man before him was not himself. There was only one possibility: he was the one who had been hiding within the altar all along.
In other words, he was the blasphemer.
The violet-robed Feng Zhe smiled, and the smile was hideous. “You are even smarter than I expected.”
Feng Zhe laughed softly. “Let me guess one more thing. When did you awaken? The evil Saga in the mirrored node—he was under your control, wasn’t he?”
“And this divinity of Ares must be your original divinity. This is your bait.”
As he spoke, he took out the refined divinity and waved it before the other’s eyes.
“I always found it strange. Why would the Sun God Abel so easily bestow divinity upon Evil Saga? It was only when I thought of the mirror itself that I realized it might be a manifestation of your divine power—or perhaps, in its own right, a means of obtaining faith.”
With every sentence Feng Zhe spoke, the violet-robed Feng Zhe’s expression grew uglier, and by the time he finished, his face had turned black.
“I truly regret ever letting you enter this altar space in the first place!”
Feng Zhe seemed to have seized the upper hand over the violet-robed version of himself, and then he chose to merge with Ares’s divinity.
At once, the altar space changed dramatically. The violet-robed Feng Zhe instantly transformed into a mass of black holy flame, and with a furious howl he cried, “If you won’t let me live, then neither will you!”
The black holy flame surged straight at him and began to burn upon Feng Zhe’s body.
At that critical moment, Feng Zhe’s body was suddenly stained red with blood, and that blood just happened to extinguish the black holy flame clinging to him.
“This is... Athena’s blood!”
Indeed. At the crucial instant, Feng Zhe shattered the blood vial he had been carrying all along, and every drop within it had come from the blood of the goddess’s sacred robe.
It was precisely because he had kept this backup plan that Feng Zhe feared no blasphemer.
“Feng Zhe, even if I must fall back into slumber once more, I will still make sure you never step out of this altar space. You will die of old age in here, haha...”
This was the blasphemer’s most vicious method.
The altar space itself had been created through the blasphemer’s divine power. Without that power, Feng Zhe would most likely be trapped here until death.
But Feng Zhe did not surrender. Instead, he smiled and said, “It seems you still do not understand me very well.”
Then, looking at the faith power he had accumulated, he shouted:
Dimensional Leap!
Behind Feng Zhe, a gigantic hourglass appeared. It was the profound art he had obtained when he refined Jamian back then.
Unlike the mirrored node within the altar space, this time Feng Zhe used faith power to leap directly across the timeline.
At once, a great river of time appeared before him, and within that river, Feng Zhe chose the year 1743...
That was the year to which Sashiya had traveled. The reason Feng Zhe had once again entered the altar space and chosen the mirrored node was all for the sake of faith power.
With that faith power, he could search the river of time for Sashiya.
“Sashiya, wait for me. I’m coming!”
Then Feng Zhe vanished from the altar space...
“No! Feng Zhe...”
The altar space soon dimmed. The entire altar seemed to collapse, becoming utterly ruined and desolate.
Meanwhile, the faith power on Feng Zhe’s body began to burn at once, and the tremendous repulsive force carried him directly across the axis of time, into the past...
Consumed 200,000 faith power. Returned to the year 1743. The main altar has collapsed; return is impossible...
Warning: The main altar has collapsed. Return is impossible!
Feng Zhe laughed then, finally breaking free from the altar space’s entanglement. He would no longer feel as though he were being watched.
That feeling was simply wonderful.
Then Feng Zhe’s vision blurred, and he fell unconscious...
