Chapter 108: A Sweet Dream or a Nightmare

Inside the room, the sunlight outside was intense, some of it streaming fully into the space.
“Jia Li, I’m sorry for what I’ve done, but I don’t regret anything. If there really is a hell, I will go there myself to apologize to you face to face. I hope that by then, you can forgive what I have done,” Peng Min murmured as she sat on the bed.
Elsewhere, in the bedroom.
Huang Yu, after putting on a set of clothes, gradually realized that something about the whole situation was off.
The wine from last night must have been tampered with.
Although he didn’t drink often, he always knew his own tolerance, and he was certain he could handle his liquor well. How was it that Peng Min wasn’t drunk at all, yet he was out cold?
It was even more unbelievable that he had confused Peng Min with Jia Li and had repeatedly been intimate with her, as if dreaming.
In his dream last night, the woman he thought was Jia Li was indeed the one he was with. He clearly remembered that he was not satisfied and had asked for her multiple times.
But the once beautiful dream had turned into a nightmare— the woman’s face changed from Jia Li’s to Peng Min’s.
“Damn it!”
The more Huang Yu thought about it, the stranger and more baffling it became. He angrily clenched his fists and pounded the bed several times, cursing profanely.
“How did things end up like this?” After hitting the bed, Huang Yu slumped beside it and muttered to himself.
He had just learned of Jia Li’s death yesterday, and that very night, he had been with a girl he had known for less than a day.
He couldn’t understand why his entire world felt like it had turned upside down in just one day.
If this was a dream, he sincerely wished to wake up soon.
At this moment, Huang Yu did not yet realize that what was happening to him was far more terrifying than he imagined. Not far ahead lay the abyss of hell.
When he stepped out of the room again, the smell of food wafted from the kitchen—Peng Min was cooking.
Huang Yu’s face darkened as he approached Peng Min and asked, “What exactly did you do to me last night?”
While stirring the food, Peng Min responded, “In matters like last night’s, it’s always the woman who loses out. What kind of loss can a grown man like you suffer from?”
Hearing this, a hint of anger flashed across Huang Yu’s face, but when he wanted to lash out, he found he simply couldn’t bring himself to be harsh with a woman.
He had always despised men who were cruel or violent towards women.
Moreover, based on Peng Min’s words, he wasn’t really the one at a disadvantage in this situation. The fact that Peng Min didn’t demand an explanation was already quite generous.
Yet, no matter how he pondered it, he felt there was something fishy going on—far from the simple scenario before him.
“The meal will be ready soon. You should go set the table. We can talk about everything after eating. My stomach’s been growling since yesterday, and I’m sure yours has too, considering how much energy you used up,” Peng Min said, noticing Huang Yu standing there lost in thought. She stepped forward, interrupting his train of thought with a smile.
Snapping back to reality, Huang Yu’s anger had completely vanished. Faced with a girl who always greeted him with a smile, he couldn’t bring himself to be angry or harsh or even question her seriously.

Using what was in the fridge, Peng Min cooked several simple dishes that looked and smelled appetizing.
Huang Yu was genuinely hungry and ate two large bowls of white rice before stopping.
Only after finishing did he remember the nightclub matter and hurriedly checked his phone for the message from his butler.
The events with Peng Min had made him temporarily forget about it.
To his surprise, there was no message from the butler on his phone, which confused him greatly. The butler was always punctual—if he said he would send something at a certain time, it always arrived then.
“Could something have happened?” he wondered, and quickly called the butler.
The call connected swiftly. After exchanging brief pleasantries, Huang Yu asked about the nightclub investigation’s progress.
His question seemed to confuse the butler, who insisted he had already sent the results last night.
Huang Yu didn’t dwell on why his phone hadn’t received it; instead, he asked the butler to resend the information.
After ending the call, he soon received the butler’s message again, along with a document.
The message was identical to the one Peng Min had seen yesterday—the butler must have copied and resent it, including the investigation report on the nightclub.
After clearing the dishes, Peng Min sat on the sofa watching TV. Though outwardly focused on the screen, her mind was entirely on Huang Yu.
She didn’t miss a single detail.
Huang Yu had not yet realized why his phone hadn’t received the butler’s message the day before, which made Peng Min breathe a sigh of relief.
Before opening the document, Huang Yu stared blankly at the butler’s message.
He could hardly believe his eyes—he never imagined the Shengshi Han Palace nightclub was actually one of his father’s many businesses.
“Could it be that Dad is involved in drug trafficking? No, it’s impossible!” Huang Yu thought desperately.
But the butler would never make a mistake in such matters.
Peng Min watched Huang Yu’s expression shift and knew he had discovered the nightclub was his father’s property.
She stood up and approached him, pretending not to notice his shock. Curious, she asked, “Huang Yu, what’s wrong?”
Huang Yu said nothing and sat down on the sofa, silently opening the document to examine it carefully.
The report was detailed, listing all key personnel in the nightclub’s upper management, both overt and covert, each with photos.
“Huang Yu, come take a look. Can you identify the person who attacked Jia Li?” he called Peng Min over to help.
For the moment, he put aside the fact that the nightclub was his father’s business. If it really was, then avenging Jia Li would be easier. Yet, his previous plan to completely eradicate the place now felt uncertain.
After some thought, he decided to first avenge Jia Li—eliminate anyone involved with her or that night—before returning home to question his father about what was really going on.
“That’s easy to identify. The man has a scar on his face and is middle-aged,” Peng Min said.
Huang Yu flipped through the photos of the nightclub’s management. None of the top-tier executives matched. In the middle tier, the actual management layer, he found a photo matching the description— a man named Jiang Feng.
He quickly pulled up Jiang Feng’s photo on his phone, showing it to Peng Min, who nodded in confirmation.
“Is it him? Jiang Feng. Even if he works for Dad, I’ll kill him, and everyone connected to Jia Li,” Huang Yu said coldly, staring at the screen.
Suddenly, a familiar and pleasant fragrance came from Peng Min.
“Why are you so close to me?” Huang Yu asked as he noticed Peng Min’s head nearly touching his, her eyes fixed on his phone screen.
So close, he could feel her breath and clearly see each of her long eyelashes quivering.
Huang Yu quickly moved away.
“Brother Huang Yu, you’re making me so sad. We’ve done everything last night; there’s nothing between us that’s unfamiliar anymore,” Peng Min said with a pout, as if betrayed by a heartless lover.
If she hadn’t mentioned last night, Huang Yu might have been fine. But once she did, his face changed several times, recalling the dreamlike scenes.
What frustrated him most was that these visions grew clearer with time, impossible to forget.
Thinking of this, he dared not meet Peng Min’s eyes and instinctively avoided her gaze.
Though he felt the matter was strange, he still said, “I’m sorry. What happened between us must have been because I was drunk and mistook you for Jia Li. If there’s anything you want to do to me, I’m willing. I hope it can make up for what I’ve done.”
After all, as a man, he believed that once something had happened, he must accept and take responsibility.
“Brother Huang Yu, you don’t need to apologize or make up to me. I’m willing. From the moment I first saw you, I liked you. Even if I can’t have your heart, having your body makes me truly happy,” Peng Min said softly, stepping closer and wrapping one arm around his.
Huang Yu was stunned, instantly confirming in his mind that something strange had indeed happened last night.
Yet, he asked no questions, only showing surprise.
Peng Min’s gentle hold on his arm seemed insufficient; she lightly stroked his chest, then tiptoed closer, slowly closing her eyes, attempting to kiss him.
Unable to bear it, Huang Yu pulled his arm free, stepped back, and fixed her with a steady gaze.
“Did you slip something into my drink last night?” he asked calmly, without anger or shock.
He still had many questions—why had Peng Min done this? Was it simply because she liked him and wanted to possess him?
