Chapter 95: Yuan Is a Great Lucky Star

Xi Yan did not knock Qing Yan unconscious. He simply caught up to her at speed and, with startling decisiveness, scooped her up in his arms.

Before Qing Yan could even understand what had happened, she had been carried back to the little pavilion.

From afar, A Yuan saw Xi Yan returning with Qing Yan in his arms and immediately went to the entrance of the pavilion to wait for him.

“Brother, how is it?” A Yuan asked.

“Not very good...” Xi Yan sighed, then set Qing Yan down on a chair.

The instant he let her go, Qing Yan struck at him at once, slashing out with a knife-hand. Fortunately, A Yuan reacted quickly and blocked the attack for Xi Yan.

Xi Yan narrowed his eyes and looked at Qing Yan.

Qing Yan glared furiously at him and roared, “What are you doing? I wanted to ride the roller coaster! You stopped me! Anyone who stops me from riding the roller coaster deserves to die!”

With that, she charged at Xi Yan again. A Yuan quickly stepped in front of him and fought with Qing Yan.

“Cough... what is going on here?”

Just as the two were fighting and Xi Yan was thinking things through to the side, Lin Shuang suddenly woke up.

The moment Lin Shuang opened her eyes, she saw A Yuan and Qing Yan locked in combat, while Xi Yan looked more like a man enjoying the spectacle. That only deepened her confusion.

“You’re awake!”

Xi Yan came to Lin Shuang’s side with pleasant surprise.

Lin Shuang nodded and pressed further. “The two of them... what happened?”

Xi Yan patiently explained the whole matter to her.

As for A Yuan, Xi Yan was not worried. He believed she could handle Qing Yan with proper restraint.

In his mind, Qing Yan was simply no match for A Yuan. So long as A Yuan did not hold nothing back, there would be no problem.

After hearing the full story, Lin Shuang froze for a moment. Then she crossed her legs, took a cigarette from her backpack, lit it, drew a long inhale, and let out a plume of smoke before speaking to Xi Yan.

“Xi Yan, I’m afraid you’ll need to take us, while we are still unconscious, and get out of here.”

“Oh?” Xi Yan was puzzled.

“I... this is...” While Xi Yan and Lin Shuang were talking, A Yuan had already seized Qing Yan, and Qing Yan seemed to have regained her senses as well.

Qing Yan stared at A Yuan in confusion. She did not understand why A Yuan was glaring at her with such anger, so she looked up toward Xi Yan.

Xi Yan sighed and said to A Yuan, “A Yuan, come back over here. She’s normal again.”

“Okay.”

In truth, A Yuan had already noticed that Qing Yan was beginning to come around, but she had not stopped. Just moments ago, Qing Yan had tried to kill Xi Yan, and that was something A Yuan could not tolerate.

Obediently, A Yuan returned to Xi Yan’s side, sat down on the pavilion chair, and watched the others in silence.

Xi Yan then explained everything to Qing Yan. After hearing him out, Qing Yan fell silent.

“It seems your test results are in,” Lin Shuang said helplessly.

It was obvious now that the results of Xi Yan’s and Qing Yan’s tests had already been revealed, and the culprit was this roller coaster zone.

As long as one stayed within most of the area, they would be affected and become obsessed with riding the roller coaster with reckless abandon.

But then Qing Yan thought of many things that did not make sense.

“What use is there in luring survivors to ride the roller coaster? Is the goal simply to make them die?”

Her words sent the others into thought. Suddenly, Xi Yan recalled the scene he had seen near the first roller coaster: the top of that cavern, and the person with pipes inserted into them, alive or dead, he could not tell.

“Maybe... for something else, like an energy supply...” Xi Yan guessed at random.

When Qing Yan heard his speculation, something seemed to occur to her, and her face suddenly turned very ugly.

A Yuan swung her legs and kept staring at Qing Yan and Lin Shuang. In her eyes, both of these women posed a threat to Xi Yan, and she did not trust them.

“Qing Yan, did you think of something?” Xi Yan noticed her odd expression and asked.

But Qing Yan had no intention of answering directly. She shook her head and said, “What you guessed may be right. An energy supply... With such a huge roller coaster area and no one managing it, how is the roller coaster still running?”

It had to be said that Qing Yan’s words immediately reminded Xi Yan of something, and he followed that line of thought.

“Then I’ll go take a look. You wait here for me. How about that?”

Qing Yan and Lin Shuang exchanged a glance, then could only nod helplessly.

Aside from Xi Yan himself, anyone who left this place would be affected by the roller coaster zone. They would inevitably become madly obsessed with riding it, and then be “killed” by the roller coaster.

Seeing that neither of them objected, Xi Yan and A Yuan set off at once. Xi Yan’s destination was clear: the first roller coaster.

He had ridden several others afterward, but none of them had shown the same phenomenon as the first cave.

What’s more, Xi Yan discovered that if one wanted to ride the roller coasters here, there was no way to skip around. They had to be ridden in the order in which they were built.

It was because at that moment Xi Yan could not turn back, nor could he cross from this roller coaster, which had only a single rope, to the next one.

No matter which direction he tried, he would run into an invisible barrier and be unable to proceed.

Xi Yan and A Yuan came to a halt. “A Yuan, do you have any good idea?”

A Yuan thought for a moment and did not answer. Instead, she turned around and walked toward the direction where Xi Yan had just been blocked. To their surprise, she passed effortlessly through the transparent barrier.

Xi Yan looked at the scene in confusion. Why could A Yuan get through, while he had slammed straight into the barrier and nearly split his head open?

A Yuan had not expected to pass through either. After crossing, she froze for a moment, then happily waved at Xi Yan.

“Brother! I can come over!”

“But I can’t...” Xi Yan looked at her, amused and exasperated.

A Yuan scratched her head and realized this was a difficult problem indeed.

She returned to Xi Yan’s side and held out her arms. “Brother, hold me and see if you can get through.”

Xi Yan nodded and tried it according to her idea.

It worked.

After Xi Yan passed through the barrier, he looked back at where he had been standing, then down at A Yuan in his arms.

A Yuan was equally astonished. “It worked...”

“A Yuan, you really are my lucky star!”

Xi Yan did not have the mind to puzzle over why. After all, the fact that he was already unaffected here made no sense to begin with. What was there to explain about passing through a barrier?

Holding A Yuan, Xi Yan headed toward the first roller coaster. Before long, the two of them arrived.

Once they reached the area, A Yuan’s brows immediately knitted together. She lifted her head from Xi Yan’s arms and said, “Brother... the smell here is disgusting...”

“The smell?” Xi Yan tried sniffing a few times, but he detected nothing unusual.

“Brother, you can’t smell it. Only I can,” A Yuan explained.
