Chapter 30: Agitation
No! Even if Jun Lengche treated her well, she must not dwell on the reasons why, because her sole purpose was revenge.
Tong Zhenzhen, who had been staring blankly at Jun Lengche in fascination, suddenly snapped back to reality, realizing she had been swayed by him.
Jun Lengche was her target for vengeance. She had approached him to capture his heart, only to cast him aside later, letting him taste the bitterness of betrayal—not to let him capture her own heart.
Tong Zhenzhen warned herself over and over in her mind: do not forget your original intention. She had to fulfill her mother's dying wish and make everyone who had harmed her suffer.
Slowly, Tong Zhenzhen gathered up her wavering heart and sealed it once more behind impenetrable walls.
"I’m going to shower and get some rest." Tong Zhenzhen pulled a long face, stood up, and walked toward the bathroom with her back to Jun Lengche.
"Little girl, you just finished eating. Rest for a bit before you shower." Jun Lengche, noticing the shift in her mood, suppressed his confusion and stood up to dissuade her.
"It’s none of your business!" Tong Zhenzhen replied bluntly.
*Little girl, what’s wrong? Why the sudden change of face?* Jun Lengche had been enjoying the harmony between them at the dining table. Back then, she hadn't been a little hedgehog, but rather a greedy little kitten. Because she was enjoying the delicious food, her eyes had curved into crescents—she was incredibly adorable.
Moreover, she had playfully snatched food from him. When she succeeded, her eyes would crinkle with laughter; when she failed, she would pout.
So this was what it felt like to have a meal with someone. Especially when that person was the one you loved; every expression and every smile seemed so moving.
To think she had turned cold so quickly—was it still because of that unresolved knot in her heart? Jun Lengche was a perceptive man; he could sense Tong Zhenzhen’s hostility toward him, but he also discovered the hidden affection she harbored deep within.
The affairs of the previous generation were matters of the past and should not interfere with their own lives. Jun Lengche believed that with his efforts, he would eventually win her heart.
The scene he had witnessed in the hospital ward earlier had only confirmed his feelings for Tong Zhenzhen. Seeing another man embrace her had made him truly jealous, and furious to the point of extremity.
It seemed that winning the little girl's heart would require patience. Jun Lengche stood up and followed her. "Little girl, if you’re going to shower, don’t you need a change of clothes?"
Right. She was at Jun Lengche’s house now; what would she wear after showering? Tong Zhenzhen froze for a moment.
"Follow me." Jun Lengche stepped forward, grabbed her hand firmly, and led her into the master bedroom.
"What are you doing?" Tong Zhenzhen asked guardedly.
Jun Lengche
