And not merely handsome, but possessed of an imposing, domineering charm that was almost impossible to resist.

She quickly sat up in bed and asked, “Is there a phone? I need to call Zhao Yi.”

She looked much better now. Her exquisite, beautiful face had regained its rosy glow, and the delicate softness of her skin made his palms itch with the urge to touch her.

His smoldering gaze fell upon her without the slightest attempt at concealment, indulging itself recklessly. His deep voice was alluring yet coldly ruthless. “No.”

Tong Xiaoman ground her teeth. “Are you planning to keep us cut off from the outside world here?”

He suspected she would not like that. If she were confined to this house all day, she would either go mad or become hysterical.

“You could say that.” He shrugged and admitted it without hesitation.

“Nalanché, I want to go ashore.” Tong Xiaoman glared at him through clenched teeth and shouted.

“The door is right there. Be my guest.” Nalanché pointed toward the door, looking utterly unconcerned.

That despicable man! Tong Xiaoman truly wanted to pounce on him and bite him to death.

Seeing the fierce expression on her face, like an angry hound, he felt a laugh rising in his throat.

“I’ve already had someone inform your cousin. You’re perfectly safe now.”

“Hmph, you’re lying. I’m in greater danger than ever.” Tong Xiaoman turned her head away and ignored him.

But it did not matter. If she refused to pay attention to him, he would simply pay attention to her.

Nalanché slowly approached her and extended his hand in invitation. “The weather is wonderful today—perfect for swimming.”

Tong Xiaoman turned to stare at him in astonishment. “Are you out of your mind? You want to swim in the ocean?” Was he determined not to stop until he had tortured her to death?

“The sea is beautiful. There’s nothing more exhilarating than swimming in it. What do you say—don’t you dare challenge me?” Nalanché gazed at her with leisurely amusement.

“Tch. You know perfectly well that I’m afraid of the sea, and you’re deliberately provoking me. I’m not falling for it.”

Tong Xiaoman shrugged. She knew when to yield and when to stand her ground; she would never let a moment of wounded pride drag her into a hopeless situation.

Nalanché suddenly lowered his head and leaned close to her. The hot, masculine scent of him instantly enveloped her. His arrogant, domineering face took on an overbearing expression that brooked no refusal.

“Whether you like it or not, you’re coming into the sea with me today.”

Tong Xiaoman nearly choked on her own saliva. She glared at him. “You’re sick, aren’t you? I’m not going into the sea.” She would die if she did.

“Then just assume that I am.” With that, Nalanché reached out, seized her wrist, and pulled her to her feet.

“Nalanché.” Was this man doing it on purpose? Had he failed to finish her off last night and now decided to kill her today?

There was only so much a person could endure.

Tong Xiaoman swung a left hook at his face.

Nalanché shifted to the side and easily dodged her attack.

Tong Xiaoman struggled with all her strength to wrench her wrist free, but his iron grip held her fast. Gnashing her teeth in fury, she immediately raised her long leg and kicked at him.

Nalanché lifted an eyebrow. It seemed her fighting skills were quite impressive. He released her wrist and began exchanging blows with her effortlessly in the room, fists and feet moving in a blur.

Freed at last, Tong Xiaoman moved like a fish returned to water and engaged him without the slightest courtesy.

She had always thought her own combat skills were excellent, but she had never expected her opponent to be even more formidable. After only a few exchanges, she realized that she was no match for him.

Yet she was not the sort of person to surrender easily. She touched the floor with the tips of her toes, then suddenly sprang into the air and unleashed a succession of kicks at him like a hawk diving from the sky.

She had grown too eager in her attack. A strange, icy smile curled at the corners of Nalanché’s lips, and his broad hand struck unexpectedly toward her knee.
