Chapter 13: Rising Casually Is No Way to Be Human
As soon as he entered the hospital, the police would immediately zero in on him. Tong Xiaoman propped her chin on her palm, her curious gaze wandering across his face. Raising an eyebrow, she said, “How about this: if you take off your mask, I won’t call the police.”
“Are you sure?” The man’s eyes suddenly flickered.
Tong Xiaoman blinked and sneered, “That look in your eyes—don’t tell me you want to be like Mu Girl, where the first person of the opposite sex to see your true face must marry you?”
“You’re sharp. If you want to be my wife, then go ahead and lift the mask off my face. No matter where in the world you go, I’ll cling to you until the end of time—come, show me your courage.” A mischievous, dark smile curled at the corner of his lips as he struck a welcoming pose.
Tong Xiaoman’s mouth twitched, and she stared at him suspiciously. “You’re joking, right?”
“Whether I’m joking or not, why don’t you try? Besides, you’re quite to my taste—I’ll make do with living with you.” His gaze burned into hers.
For a moment, Tong Xiaoman hesitated. If he turned out to be ugly, wouldn’t she be at a huge loss?
“I’m still young; I don’t want to enter the grave of marriage so soon.” She pulled a first aid kit from the drawer and tossed it to him with a carefree air. “I’m a little drunk. I’m going to sleep. Do as you please.”
The man caught the kit, somewhat surprised by her gesture.
“Still not leaving? Want me to call the cops to haul you out?” Tong Xiaoman raised an eyebrow, her eyes fixed on him.
He rose slowly, each simple movement exuding an indescribable charm.
Carrying the kit, he headed toward the door. Passing by her, he deliberately paused, his burning gaze locked on her luscious, inviting red lips.
Leaning close, he whispered seductively in her ear, “Your little mouth is so sweet.”
Tong Xiaoman froze for a moment, then chuckled softly in reply, “Yours isn’t bad either.”
“Then…” His sensuous lips brushed gently against her tender cheek, exuding a strong, invasive aura that mingled with her breath—an unspoken temptation.
Her face slowly turned toward him, her smile dazzling enough to blind, yet she suddenly said, “Still not leaving? Do you really want me to dial 911?”
“Would you really?” The man chuckled lowly, then unexpectedly seized her mouth in a fierce kiss.
Before she could react, he swiftly pulled away and strode out without looking back.
This man was truly audacious.
Suddenly, her face flushed hot, and her heart trembled uncontrollably.
She reached out to lightly touch her trembling lips—warm, and seemingly still carrying his breath; fresh yet domineering, cold yet intoxicating.
She collapsed onto the soft bed, burying her face in the pillow. Damn it, why was everywhere filled with his scent?
She wasn’t a casual girl, but ever since meeting that man, she’d become anything but proper.
Last night, that kiss in the bathtub—it was her first.
He surely wouldn’t believe it was her first kiss, but she couldn’t blame him. Whenever she saw him, she inexplicably felt excited, inexplicably drawn to him.
As Tong Xiaoman thought this, she suddenly felt as if the whole world was shattering apart.
