Chapter 8: Fishing [Ancient Breed · Dragon Dragon Fruit · Ankylosaurus Form]
Chapter 8: Fishing [Ancient Zoan · Dragon-Dragon Fruit · Pachycephalosaurus Form]! The Beasts Assemble!
Perhaps it was the capturing effect of the Special Rice Ball (or so it seemed)...
Without much effort, Choi Ze successfully persuaded Run Ti to use the sweet saliva of the demon-transformed girl inside the Bamboo Tube to tentatively heal the huge gash on her mouth.
Originally, Run Ti had planned to test the healing effect of the Bamboo Tube’s mouthpiece on Pei Jiwan first.
She thought that if the “medicine” inside the Bamboo Tube could truly heal her own injury, she would immediately pour the rest all over her younger brother’s skull!
However, when Run Ti learned from Choi Ze what exactly the so-called “medicine” inside the Bamboo Tube was...
She instantly abandoned the idea!
Putting aside whether it was reasonable, reliable, or effective...
“What kind of magical realism is this—pouring another girl’s saliva onto my dear little brother’s half-smashed skull?”
Choi Ze, unaware of the psychological workings of a ghostly little girl, held the Bamboo Tube and approached the iron bars of the prison, signaling Run Ti to bring her mouth closer.
She seemed to have already imagined a mysterious ritual of self-sacrifice. Closing her eyes, she gently puckered her lips.
“Don’t pout! Just keep a normal expression!” Choi Ze grumbled as he opened the Bamboo Tube’s lid, dipped his index finger inside, and scooped out some “medicine.”
Thinking of the owner of the “medicine,” Choi Ze unconsciously pinched his index finger and thumb together, gently rubbed them, and then pulled them apart to stretch a strand...
A strand stretching...
“Ahem!”
Choi Ze shuddered all over, pretending nothing had happened, and carefully pressed the “medicine” on his fingers against the uneven scar of Run Ti’s mouth.
In an instant, his heart stilled.
Choi Ze meticulously spread the “medicine” evenly over Run Ti’s gash, fearful that any careless move might hurt her.
At some point, Run Ti opened her eyes, staring blankly at the cautious human male who was carefully applying the “medicine” so close to her.
The young ghostly girl, barely having met this foreign male for half a day, felt warmth far surpassing that of her own father.
“All done! Although it’s hard to see much effect now, we treat the dead horse as a living horse—cough! I mean, it might actually work!”
Choi Ze withdrew his finger with satisfaction, having used up most of the “medicine” in the Bamboo Tube.
He was about to ask Run Ti to turn her head away, but unexpectedly caught sight of her vacant eyes.
“Hey, little gash girl, are you falling asleep standing up?”
Choi Ze flicked her forehead lightly with his index finger.
“Snap out of it! The ‘healing treatment’ is done. How do you feel?”
Startled like a frightened cat, Run Ti took a big step back, clutching her forehead and stammering, “W-what?”
“I’m asking if your ‘gash’ feels any different,” Choi Ze chuckled, tapping the corner of his own mouth. “Whether it itches, hurts, or tingles... that feeling of new flesh growing.”
“No feeling—huh?”
Run Ti shook her head at first, then slid her hand down from her forehead. Her fingertips suddenly touched a dry, cracked texture, and she froze.
“It seems to actually be working...” Choi Ze was equally surprised.
Is the healing effect of the Bamboo Tube’s “medicine” a bit too exaggerated?
It healed a little gash girl so quickly?
Did I just miss out on a miraculous healing elixir?
---
After a brief daze, Run Ti suddenly tore at the dry dead skin around her gash like a madwoman, ignoring the pain entirely.
Large chunks of grayish-white flakes fell like snow, revealing the smooth, delicate skin beneath.
Feeling the long-missed sensation of complete skin around her mouth, the little ghost girl’s eyes reddened, tears immediately welling and streaming down like they had no cost.
The weak act of “crying” had been abandoned by Run Ti the day after her father threw her into the laboratory.
The strong-willed ghost girl never imagined she would ever shed tears again.
“Oh right! Little Pei!”
Run Ti roughly wiped her kitten-like face, then grabbed the iron bars with both hands, red-eyed and incoherently pleading with Choi Ze.
“Little Pei! Little Pei’s injuries are worse than mine! Can you give me the rest of the stuff in the Bamboo Tube?”
Choi Ze handed the entire Bamboo Tube to Run Ti.
She treasured it like a precious gem, immediately turning around to drip the medicine drop by drop onto Pei Jiwan’s green skull, until every last drop was used.
Nezuko, forever divine!
Before long, a thin film of skin formed on Pei Jiwan’s skull. Though still terrifying in appearance, it was no longer as menacing as before.
Watching the siblings cling together in tears, Choi Ze felt deeply comforted; the murderous rage accumulated over the past few days dissipated considerably.
“This is my last ration. You two remember to ration it for the next few days.”
Choi Ze poured out all his remaining food and water from his pocket for Run Ti and Pei Jiwan.
“If I get the chance, I’ll come see you again.”
The crying in the prison abruptly ceased.
Run Ti, face streaked with tears, turned around. Pei Jiwan also looked at Choi Ze. The siblings gazed at him with reluctant eyes.
“You’re leaving?”
“Yes.”
Choi Ze nodded gently.
“Now that you have food and water, staying in the cave will be safer for you. And in just a few days, someone else will come to rescue you—whether it’s the Navy or Kaido.”
Choi Ze had no intention of rescuing Run Ti and Pei Jiwan himself.
His own survival was already a huge problem; bringing along two little burdens might result in all three of them walking the path to the afterlife together.
Moreover, Choi Ze carried secrets that made it unsuitable to cooperate with others.
“My name is Run Ti, and Little Pei’s full name is Pei Jiwan,” Run Ti asked, “What’s your name?”
“Christer Pitt—tsk!”
Choi Ze made a clicking sound. What was the point of hiding from these two little devils?
“Forget it. Christer Pitt is my future codename. My real name is Choi Ze.”
“Choi Ze... Choi Ze...”
Run Ti repeated the name several times, as if wanting to engrave it in her heart. Pei Jiwan did the same beside her.
Just as Choi Ze was about to leave, Run Ti suddenly shouted with a firm gaze.
“Choi Ze! There are two Devil Fruits left behind by Father here in this cave! You can take one!”
Choi Ze turned sharply, his eyes shining like a bonfire in the darkness, flickering with fierce light.
---
Following Run Ti’s directions, Choi Ze unearthed two wooden treasure chests from the depths of the cave. Opening them revealed two strikingly beautiful fruits covered in mysterious Tang-style spiral patterns.
Regarding these two Devil Fruits’ abilities, Choi Ze had some guesses, which Run Ti confirmed.
Animal Type · Ancient Zoan · Dragon-Dragon Fruit · Pachycephalosaurus Form!
Animal Type · Ancient Zoan · Dragon-Dragon Fruit · Spinosaurus Form!
However, the problem was...
Choi Ze, Run Ti, and Pei Jiwan had never seen the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia. While they knew the precise abilities of the two fruits, they couldn’t tell which was the Pachycephalosaurus Fruit and which was the Spinosaurus Fruit.
“Which one will you choose, Choi Ze?”
Run Ti and Pei Jiwan looked on curiously, waiting for his decision.
The carefree siblings didn’t seem to worry that Choi Ze might run off with both Devil Fruits.
“I don’t know... I’ll just pick one randomly!”
The Fishing skill was not an identification skill; Choi Ze could not distinguish between the fruits by appearance alone.
After some deliberation, Choi Ze finally picked up the fruit on the left.
“My first Devil Fruit fishing! Didn’t expect to get the chance so soon!”
Feigning to put the fruit into his waist pocket, Choi Ze immediately started fishing the moment the fruit was secured.
A single Devil Fruit of any category corresponded to an EX-level ability that surpassed data limits!
Choi Ze was eager!
Using his finger as a fishing rod, and his will as the line.
“Lady Luck is smiling! Let’s catch it!”

“This is terrifying...” Choi Ze muttered instinctively after reading the new information on the luminous screen.
“Kid, are you talking about me? Oh ho ho ho—”
Accompanied by a rough, boisterous laugh, an immense, towering figure strode into the cave.
A pair of monstrous giant horns sprouted from his head. Black, dragon-like whiskers framed his upper lip. His scarred and bare upper body bore a vivid orange-red dragon scale tattoo on his left arm. Resting on his right shoulder was a massive wolf-tooth club nearly as tall as a man, named “Hasshigai.”
The Admiral of the Beasts Pirate Crew, the strongest creature—Kaido—made his entrance!
