Chapter 22: The Terror of a True God

A single breath of pure energy, and the entire Chuyun Sword Sect fell.

In that instant, every structure of the sect crumbled into dust.

This was the terror of a True God!

Even the most powerful cultivators in the Eternal Realm across the Cangnan Continent would vanish into smoke in mere seconds under such a force.

Beneath a True God, all living beings are but ants!

...

"Why go to such lengths?"

Ye Yun smiled calmly, feeling a sense of helplessness for the price these greedy souls had paid.

But this is human nature.

Wealth moves the heart; once faced with treasures, it is difficult for people to control their inner greed. Regardless of their cultivation level, no one can escape the pull of greed. Even those who have reached the supreme realm of "Godhood" are no exception.

...

"Little Ma, let's go. Let's see how the battle ahead is faring," Ye Yun said after stepping into the carriage.

"As you wish, Master."

The black stallion stirred with spirit, lifted its hooves, and began to run at high speed. After only a few strides, its hooves left the ground. Treading upon the void, it pulled the black carriage, carving a black streak across the sky before vanishing in an instant.

...

The Supreme Elder of the Chuyun Sword Sect fled at top speed, yet he discovered that the sharp-edged youth was still locked onto him, pursuing relentlessly. He could not shake him off, which filled him with burning anxiety.

The rapid turn of events in today's battle was beyond his imagination. The combat prowess of the two youths was unexpectedly formidable! Their Imperial-grade robes possessed incredible defensive capabilities; his attacks at the ninth level of the Deity-Forming Realm could not even break through them. As an elder of the Chuyun Sword Sect, he held a lofty position in the Guyue Dynasty, yet his own robe was merely Heaven-grade. King-grade robes were rare enough in the dynasty, let alone Imperial-grade. If he had possessed the strength to defeat them, he would have surely seized those robes.

Unfortunately, he could not. Fortunately, his cultivation realm was higher and his mana deeper, allowing him to hold out longer.

Two hours later, the Supreme Elder paused to catch his breath. When he looked back, his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets. The youth was still at the same distance, showing no signs of falling behind.

"How can this youth possess such immense vitality?" The Supreme Elder was shocked. He squinted and looked further into the distance. Far away, a small yellow dot was rapidly approaching. Upon closer inspection, it was that beautiful young girl.

She, too, possessed such stamina; it was unimaginable.

"What rotten luck!"

The Supreme Elder's face darkened. Daring not to stop, he continued his desperate flight. Behind him, Jun Moxiao kept his face cold, trailing him step for step, never faltering. Having absorbed two drops of Ancestral Dragon blood, his physique was exceptionally powerful, his endurance far exceeding his peers, which allowed him to track the Elder for so long. Luo Li was slightly less resilient, yet she followed closely, showing not a hint of fatigue.

Whoosh!

The sky dimmed. A black shadow streaked over their heads, descending before the Elder and blocking his path. The fleeing Elder slammed to a halt.

"Why is that black carriage here?" The Supreme Elder’s pupils constricted in terror. He had seen this carriage parked in the Chuyun Sword Sect’s square; it was the vehicle of those two youths. He never expected it to be capable of flight. It seemed that black stallion was an extraordinary divine beast.

"Stop running. You cannot escape!" A man's voice drifted from the black carriage.

There was someone inside? The Supreme Elder was startled. He had scanned the carriage earlier and found it empty. When had someone appeared inside? His aged face turned deathly pale. A realization struck him—there had been a peerless powerhouse in the carriage all along, but his own realm was too low to perceive them.

Terrified, the survival instinct took over, and he turned to bolt in another direction.

Just then, the surrounding space underwent a strange shift.

Bang!

The Supreme Elder crashed into an invisible barrier and was sent reeling back.

"It's over! This peerless powerhouse has sealed the area; I cannot break through!" Fear gripped his heart. He hovered in the void, head bowed, his expression shifting between shades of green and red as he wrestled with a difficult choice.

"Brat," Ye Yun said calmly while looking at him, "I will give you one chance to live—tell me, who tasked you to post that mission at the Ten Thousand Treasures Pavilion? Who ordered you to target the tiny Shenlong Sect?"

The Supreme Elder gritted his teeth, remaining silent. Even under the pressure of a supreme powerhouse, he showed no signs of yielding.

At that moment, Jun Moxiao arrived. Seeing the Elder, he sneered, "Run, why don't you? Let's see where you can go!" He thrust his sword forward.

The Supreme Elder gave a miserable laugh, looked at Jun Moxiao, and suddenly roared with laughter, "I will never tell you, even in death! Give up!"

Suddenly, the aura around him surged violently!

Was he going to self-destruct? Jun Moxiao sensed the danger, immediately employed the Shenlong Nine Changes technique, retracted his sword, and retreated at high speed.

"Boom!"

The Supreme Elder's body exploded. A powerful shockwave rippled outwards until it was contained by the invisible barrier. Thanks to Jun Moxiao’s quick reflexes, the profound nature of his movement technique, and the protection of his Imperial-grade robe, he remained unharmed.

When Luo Li arrived, she had just missed the explosion. She sighed, "I didn't think the old geezer would actually self-destruct. He was a tough nut to crack."

"Indeed, Senior Sister. Now the trail is cold," Jun Moxiao said, frustrated.

Luo Li bit her lip, her expression sullen. Suddenly, she looked at the black carriage hovering in the void and her eyes widened. "Junior Brother, look! Why is the Old Ancestor's carriage hovering there?"

"It... it really is the Old Ancestor," he stammered. Jun Moxiao, previously focused entirely on the Elder, was now equally stunned.

Just then, Ye Yun stepped out of the carriage and appeared where the Elder had exploded. Jun Moxiao and Luo Li flew up to him.

"Old Ancestor, the trail is broken," Jun Moxiao said, scratching his head in regret.

Ye Yun shook his head dismissively. "It does not matter."

Seeing Ye Yun’s calm demeanor, Jun Moxiao’s eyes lit up. "Old Ancestor, do you have another way to track the clues?"

Luo Li, recalling the methods the Old Ancestor had used against the Qing Sword Sect, suddenly realized. She tapped Jun Moxiao on the forehead and giggled, "Who do you think the Old Ancestor is? He is a True God. Could a small matter like this possibly stump him?"

"Haha, you're right, Senior Sister." Jun Moxiao scratched his head, smiling sheepishly.

At that moment, Ye Yun flicked his finger. A soul slowly manifested in the void—it was the Supreme Elder. Ye Yun’s fingertips flickered with light as he manipulated the spirit. Jun Moxiao watched tensely, while Luo Li remained relaxed.

After a few breaths, Ye Yun flicked his finger again, and the soul dissipated into the heavens and earth.

"Old Ancestor, who was the one behind this?" Luo Li asked softly, her eyes filled with hope.
