Chapter 29: The Two Pillars of Life—Houses and Cars
Shoushan Fuhai is a high-end villa community located in the new district of Hu City. It boasts a unique geographical advantage, nestled against the mountains and facing the sea, offering an excellent ecological environment and convenient transportation.
The community consists of detached, semi-detached, and terraced villas. It features 220,000 square meters of neoclassical-style landscaping. To the north, it sits right next to the Shoushan Scenic Area, and two kilometers to the east lies the vast ocean—a truly pleasant setting filled with the scent of birds and flowers. Furthermore, it is situated close to the new district’s commercial center, making daily shopping effortless, and is just over a kilometer away from Yunhai Fitness.
Pulling his Ferrari up to the entrance of the Shoushan Fuhai sales center, Gao Yun stepped out. He was dressed in a slim-fit, short-sleeved white shirt and blue jeans, with a pair of black sunglasses perched on his face. His explosive muscular physique exuded a sense of masculine competence.
"Tsk." Stepping out of the car, Gao Yun shielded his eyes from the harsh sunlight. *It's heating up pretty fast,* he thought. *Maybe living closer to the sea will be a bit cooler.*
After acquiring his vast wealth, he had set three preliminary goals: buy a car, buy a house, and give his family a sum of money. Everything was now accomplished except for the house. Having some free time today, he decided to look at properties. He had inquired about villas near the new district, and Shoushan Fuhai was widely considered the best and most expensive. Thus, he had headed straight here without hesitation.
When it comes to life, it’s all about houses and cars. Cars are easy; they get you from A to B regardless of the price. But with houses, no amount is ever considered too expensive. If you have little money, you buy a standard apartment; if you have money, you buy a villa—and it has to be the best and most expensive one, otherwise, it’s a sign of disrespect to yourself and your wealth.
"Hello, sir."
Just as he stepped into the sales center, a tall girl in professional attire trotted over to greet him.
*My luck must be turning,* Wang Qingqing thought, feeling delighted. Sales leads were assigned on a rotation, and today was finally her turn to strike gold. Heaven had eyes; she had finally encountered a high-quality client. Based on her experience, if this handsome man driving a Ferrari wasn't here to buy a villa, she would be willing to eat three pounds of excrement to cure her failing eyesight.
"Sir, is this your first time at Shoushan Fuhai? Has any other consultant assisted you before?"
Gao Yun had worked in sales himself, so he could tell at a glance what the saleswoman was thinking. He took off his sunglasses, tucked them into his shirt collar, and said casually, "First time. Why don't you get me a glass of water first? It's too hot this morning; I'm a bit thirsty."
"Right away, sir!" Hearing this, Wang Qingqing didn't hesitate. She trotted off on her thin high heels to fetch the water.
"Hiss... phew." Wang Qingqing returned with the water, her chest heaving slightly as she caught her breath.
"Thanks," Gao Yun said without ceremony. He took the glass, tilted his head back, and downed the water in one go.
Wang Qingqing took a deep breath to steady herself and spoke with practiced professionalism: "Sir, I am a property consultant here. My name is Wang Qingqing. Shall we head to the front desk to register, and then I can introduce you to the specific details of Shoushan Fuhai?"
"Ugh," Gao Yun burped after finishing the water. He walked toward the front desk to register, signed his name with a flourish, and looked up to ask, "How many square meters is your best, fully furnished detached villa?"
While unfinished villas offered the freedom to design according to one's own taste, starting from scratch would take anywhere from three months to a year or two. Gao Yun couldn't wait that long; he might even leave Hu City by the time the renovations were finished. Therefore, buying a turnkey villa was the optimal choice.
Wang Qingqing recited the details fluently: "Our largest and best fully furnished detached villa is 500 square meters, with two floors above ground and one basement level. The total usable area is 800 square meters, including a 300-square-meter front and back garden, seven rooms, four living areas, five bathrooms, a garage with three parking spaces, and an open-air balcony. The interior is fully fitted with imported materials..."
Gao Yun waved his hand to interrupt. "Just take me to see that one. If I like it, I'll buy it on the spot and move in."
*Oh my god,* Wang Qingqing nearly cried tears of joy. Listen to that—listen to how concise and direct this Ferrari-driving hunk is. Buy it. Move in on the spot.
Not far away, other consultants whispered among themselves.
One female consultant couldn't hide her envy. "Damn, Wang Qingqing is going to get rich today."
A male consultant who had just returned from checking out the Ferrari outside walked past Gao Yun, glanced at him with a look of recognition, and walked over to his colleagues. "I know this guy."
"You know someone like that?" The consultants gathered in a huddle, whispering.
"Tell us, what does he do? Since when did Hu City have such a badass car?"
"There’s only one Ferrari 812 GTS with a temporary plate in Hu City; it’s definitely him," the male consultant said. "His name is Gao Yun. He used to be a fitness trainer at Caesar's and made a huge fortune trading futures. The newly opened Yunhai Sports is his." He added, "Our manager used to work out at Caesar's and I think he even bought personal training sessions from him."
The office door suddenly opened, and the department manager, Wang Jian—a stout, middle-aged man in a suit—walked out with his hands behind his back. He gave a light cough. "What are you all doing? Go call your clients; don't stand here gossiping."
"Manager, someone wants to view a property. I'm taking the keys for Unit 18," Wang Qingqing said hurriedly before rushing into the office.
"Hm, go ahead," Wang Jian replied. He instinctively looked toward the lobby, immediately spotted Gao Yun standing at the front desk, and his eyes lit up as he walked over.
"A-Yun, you're here. Looking to buy a house?"
Gao Yun studied the man for a few seconds before finally pulling a name from his memory. Wang Jian had been his private training client at Caesar's. He had bought 24 sessions and lost 25 pounds, though looking at him now, the weight had clearly bounced back.
"Brother Wang, you work here?"
"Yes, I moved over as soon as this project opened."
Hu City was a small place—2,400 square kilometers with a town population of 200,000. Gao Yun was well-connected, with nearly 5,000 friends on WeChat. After he posted about his wealth, word spread through gossip, and by now, nearly half of Hu City had heard a thing or two about it.
Wang Jian was also on his WeChat list and was among the first to know about Gao Yun’s windfall. They exchanged congratulations and made some small talk.
"Brother, let me be honest with you: the quality of that fully furnished villa is excellent. The renovation materials, furniture, and appliances are all top international brands. It just depends on whether you like the overall style."
Gao Yun asked, "What's the final price?"
Wang Jian replied, "8.8 million for the fully furnished unit, and 5.2 million for the unfinished one."
"Understood." Gao Yun nodded, feeling that the price was well within his range.
